Hi all, thought I would share a couple of pics showing the difference before and after my first ever clay bar and machine polish (none abrasive as I`m a complete novice).

Taken with the same camera, same location, in almost the same weather conditions.....

Before (Washed, hand polish, wax/seal):

After (Washed, clay, machine polish, wax/seal):

Thanks for the +ve comments everyone - it took 4 hours to do. The clay bar took a about 2hrs of this time.

1) I Washed wheels then I washed the body work using the two bucket method with AG shampoo.
2) Dried using Turtle wax drying towel (Large blue one available in halfords - very very good!)
3) Clay bar with Megs Quick clay kit - I only used half a bar and you get two in the kit so Ive got another 1.5 bars of clay left although the quick detailer they provide for lubricant is almost done ( I was really paranoid about clay marring so I used loads!).
4) Polish using AG Super Resin Polish and a dual action polisher with cotton applicator pad.
5) Buff off using a dual action polisher with soft buffer pad.
***I wish I had done the polish step twice, maybe next time***
6) Applied AG Extra gloss protection manually using a micro fibre cloth
7) Left to bond with the SRP for an hour then buffed off by hand using a clean micro fibre cloth.
8) Windows polished with Autoglym Fast Glass
9) Alloys coated with AG alloy wheel seal (Sometimes I SRP then EGP them but I was very tired, I will save this for another day)
10) Plastic and rubber trim cleaned with AG Fast Glass

Next time I will give it two coats of SRP and I think I will invest in some AG HD wax to use instead of the EGP.

At some point I want to start polishing using abrasive pads using a decent polisher but not just yet.

Looks really good - love the coupe in the blue....

Really fancy getting the DAS6 DA.

I used my clay kit last week but didn't seem to be getting much off when looked at the clay (the pics of DW show dirty clay).I got bored or claying after the bonnet, front end and roof....

I then used Poorboys Blackhole, applied by hand with foam applicator (now have RSI), left to haze and buffed using megs shine MF. Finally used Megs Ultimate quik wax (need to invest in decent wax).

Would defo recommend the Blackhole - a lot of the swirling has gone, not sure how long for though...... also recommend the megs water magnet!

Thanks Reggie,

Yours looks really good, my last 3 cars were black ..Type-R EP3, Rx8 231 and Meane R26 but I felt like a change this time. I`ll probably go back to black for my next car.

Might try some of that blackhole :)
