My Z4 with Nitrous

Hope you can follow this link to the wizards of Nos forum of my nitrous install, dyno results at the end

Its bloody quick, check out the torque figure from the dyno curve 310 ft-Lbs, thats more than a V8 M3, and nearly 300kg lighter, and I have a lower 3.64:1 ratio diff. With the nitrous off the car feels sedate. Its great fun, but it really highlights the poor steering, I am planning to convert to hydrualic. Maybe i'm just gripping it too tight :D

Kit was 450 off ebay, normally about 750.

Just read through your entire thread - that's amazing  . I haven't seen anyone else with a Nitrous fit on the Z4 before, but it seems like a much more economical route to take than supercharging it, and no need to run crazy boost to get great results.
Nice job.
Wonder if it would be any more difficult to do this in a NA E89? (N52 engine)

Thanks bud.
I only skip read through the link.
WOW!! That's a lot of bang for the buck.
We'll done sounds incredible

There are pros and cons, but mainly just the bang for your buck, I could never justify spending out for a SC for the amount I use the car and given the value of it, its just a summer/fun car and I enjoy the tinkering as much as the driving, my mate was certainly surprised when he couldnt overtake my old girl in his £26k Porsche 911. A service on his Porsche would cost as much as my nitrous install, and if I do eventually sell the car I can remove it and fit it to the next one, you can fit nitrous to pretty much any car. There is loads of info on the Wizars of Nos website and of course their forum. Ive only fitted the single point injector set up, for which they only recommended I go to 75hp jets because of the complex BMW inlet manifold design, theres a 330i with the same engine on the forum which has gone direct port (1 injector per cyl), running 125hp jets, but I think that would be too much for the Z4 for road use, I got thru about a bottle and a half last summer, its an 11Lb bottle, which costs me £88 to fill. Nitrous has got more expensive lately, one of the cons.

Nice job, something I've always wanted to try :)

One thing that's always worried me with this is the DSC/DTC - I was under the impression that it worked by cutting fuel to the injectors, which could lead to running dangerously lean if it kicked in when using the nitrous?

Fuel is injected separately along with the No2 so should maintain correct ratio, I have to turn it off anyway the extra power brings it in all the time?

What I mean is, if the 6 standard fuel injectors aren't injecting any fuel (because DSC has kicked in), but the pulsoids are still injecting fuel and nitrous, you have a very lean mixture.

Ive had the dsc come on quite a few times whilst testing, never caused a problem, you would naturally dethrottle anyway which would deactivate the nitrous too. You do learn a certain driving style when you have the nitrous on but its not radical

Exactly, not only that but look at the rate at which the torque curve climbs and this will give you an idea how quickly the car accelerates. The torque increase on my car is just under 44% over standard. Its why drag racers love it

Bollox to the sport button!! I wanna get me a nitrous switch!! I love this again well done. Definite food for thought.

Fantastic read! This is annoyingly interesting and tempting now  I looked at the supercharger kits as soon as I bought my car last month but the supercharger cost:car value ratio is just wrong. Good work dude!

Well put WonkeyDonkey. I feel exactly the same. Other than the time involved, it seems such good value for the massive gains. Hell a remap is £250.00 plus and very little difference.
I do wish I had not read it though!!
Bloody cars

Remap is definitely pointless. Damn these people for dangling juicy, horsepower-laden carrots under our noses! :driving: The installation and setup seems a bit time-consuming, which is exactly the kind of thing I want to be busy with during the boring winter months
