My Z4 CS Supercharged, Summary

bmwZ, why swap OEM Z4 differentials that are all open (except z4m)? Wouldnt it be better to get a limited slip from drexler? I mean with all the low end torque thanks to the ESS compressor you could do some serious drift/powerslide/donut action....

Hello! Yes I see your point.. I was looking for the Z4M diff but it wouldnt fit without changing the rear suspension. So 3.0Si Coupe diff was selected and I soon want to install a quaife LSD. Then it will be some serious powerslides, YES

op have you fitted boost and AFR gauges?? very important with any FI setup.

No, I havent installed any of those. The boost is limited by the supercharger wheel, the smaller wheel you mount, the higher boost. So no need for an boost gauge. Some oil temp had been nice, but its mostly for track use and Im not driving on tracks.

How difficult was the rear differential change? I'm getting the logistics done for putting a supercharger in my 2.5i. I already have the 3 shift to 60mph problem so I'm thinking about swapping mine out to in an attempt to get a 2 shift 0-60. Thanks and your machine looks amazing!!!!

Hello and thanks :D To change the differential is quite easy, 2-3 hours job maby if you have some mechanical skills. But if you want to shift just 2 times up to 60mph, you have to go lower on the ratios. The 2.5i manual, have 3.23 ratio and I have the 3.0Si Coupe ratio of 3.46(Yes it is different ratio on 3.0Si roadster and Coupe :!: ). To get 2 shifs to 60mph you have to install the 3.0i non facelift differential that have 3.07 ratio.

I cant see why you will install a differential with slower acceleration just to get a better 0-60 time. The car has a faster 0-80mph with 3.38 or 3.46 ratio!!!

Hope you can understand what I`m writing

It was just an idea I was toying with. It will really depend on how the car drives after the SC install. Right now I feel it's a bit sluggish coming out of a corner around town. So I'm pretty sure the SC will give it that extra kick I want. I'm just a bit worried that first gear will feel way too short with all that extra power. But hey, I pull away in second gear half the time now so I"m sure that'll still work just fine with the SC.

And yes...I completely got all the gearing and ratio stuff :-)

Great mods all around!!!

It's always good to have boost gauge incase u have boost leaks ect ect.

Cue the flaming...But what a waste of money! Surely what you've spend is more than the value of a Z4M??? And it's probably slower? I can't figure that logic in my head...

Not really. We buy what we like! Some may say they can't figure out why you own two 2 seater cars? :poke: :fuelfire: :P

One of the best Z4's I've seen - very well done. The one improvement IMO would be black grilles.

Have to say - that IS the best-looking Z4 I've seen. Again, very well done.

In my opinion, that's the car the Z4MR shpuld have been (visually). I think a lot of potential Porshe owners would would have been seduced by a car that looked like that.

Thanks, good to hear :) Maby some Porsche Boxster owners could been seduced, yes. I smoked my friends Porsche 911 3.4 from 100km/h to 200km/h on the highway
My car is just 1300kg and has 300hp, the Porsche 1500kg and 300hp :P

Cars here in Norway are pretty expensive.
Take my 07 Z4C for an example. With todays currency I payed a little over 19.000£ for it at the dealer in Germany. And with taxes, fees and all there is to get norwegian plates i have payed in total about 52.000£ I believe. Got it in May this year.
Brand new my Z would have cost about 80.000£ here in Norway...
