My Z4 CS Supercharged, Summary

I love that! mmm I may steal your parts same colour!!! joking ... that really is special... what spec's is it putting out with the supercharger???

Hi! The Supercharger is putting out around 300HP in the engine, 0-60 isnt that good, because after my diff change to 3,46 ratio I have to gear three times before I hit 60 :( But 0-50 is about 4,5 seconds with me as a driver :D

Great looking Zed  , but I have to ask... why didn't you at least get the 3.0l?

At a guess, I would suggest taxation. Small engine attracts less tax, whatever you do afterwards does not matter.

Thanks... Its simple to answer that question, its the tax here in Norway that are really a killer of big engines. A Z4 2.2 cost 20,000£ less than a 3.0 new. A supercharger kit cost 7,000£ fitted and gives more power :D . If I had lived in England I could get the Z4M with the ESS supecharger(550hp) fitted for the same money as my 2.2 in Norway :(

That answers my point perfectly, else I just could not see the point of all that work on the 2,2 when you could have taken the 3.0i to a way higher power level for the same money.
How taxation skews things.

Cue the flaming...But what a waste of money! Surely what you've spend is more than the value of a Z4M??? And it's probably slower? I can't figure that logic in my head...

The logic is probably that a Z4M would probably cost more than twice what he spent buying and supercharging his car. We have similarly high taxes on big engined cars here as well. My M costed almost exactly as much on taxes and registration as i paid for when i bought in the UK.

Woah nice.

Having been to oslo and have many Norweigan friends i can certainly say it bloody expensive.. much more so then London prices.. so I can imagine taxation and insurance must be pretty expensive.

Also people are probably saying it cost more then to get z4M outright.. but a SC Z4 would drive completely different to a NA Z4M... some could say much better with the power lower down in the rev range... but obviously modding it money which would be difficult to recoup.

Either way i like it.. much more unique then an M.. and if you kept your 2.2 badges on would be very stelth to the unsuspecting driving trying to race you

Yes, I take your point, but because the taxes is high, the Z4M is twice the price here in Norway. Ok, the acceleration is poorer than the M, but i think mine handles better. It has 200kg less curbweight, better brakes, wider wheel and tires, better suspension( H&R swaybars, polyflex bushings all the way and today I purchased me a KW V3 coilover kit :D :D  )

Thanks!! Had been fun with the badges on, but the brakes and everything is hard to hide :D I have aluminium badges placed close to the turnsignal BMW logoes. These ones:

I see you have facelift xenon headlights. how did you get on with that? I've heard it's a complicate task of installing facelift xenons to a pre-facelift Z4.

Hi! Yes, its a little complicated. When I installed the lamps it was just the xenon lights(with highbeam xenons), and the us sidemarker lights that was working. I had to wire from the us sidelights to the parklights to get them to work. Then I switched places of the electronics iside the connectors to get the highbeam to work. Its not that bad to do, so now its working just fine :D

How difficult was the rear differential change? I'm getting the logistics done for putting a supercharger in my 2.5i. I already have the 3 shift to 60mph problem so I'm thinking about swapping mine out to in an attempt to get a 2 shift 0-60. Thanks and your machine looks amazing!!!!

Hello and thanks :D To change the differential is quite easy, 2-3 hours job maby if you have some mechanical skills. But if you want to shift just 2 times up to 60mph, you have to go lower on the ratios. The 2.5i manual, have 3.23 ratio and I have the 3.0Si Coupe ratio of 3.46(Yes it is different ratio on 3.0Si roadster and Coupe :!: ). To get 2 shifs to 60mph you have to install the 3.0i non facelift differential that have 3.07 ratio.

I cant see why you will install a differential with slower acceleration just to get a better 0-60 time. The car has a faster 0-80mph with 3.38 or 3.46 ratio!!!

Hope you can understand what I`m writing
