My Z4 28i

Hi all,

Had the Eibach springs fitted today, really pleased (although I'm hoping the front settles and drops a bit more!).

Even with the larger tyres im not getting any rubbing.

The ride is perfect. It feels more progressive, less crashy, but firmer and less roll in corners.

I never wanted a big drop, just subtly lower the front and not the rear so much. (These are meant to be a 15mm front and 5mm rear drop).

I want to look at some spacers now to finish the look off.

Spacers - What a fricking pain in the arse!!

Bought a pair of 12mm's for the front and a pair of 20mm for the rear.

Fronts were perfect. No issues and looked spot on.

Rears were a nightmare. Fitment was spot on. Test drive revealed a number of issues and within 2 miles I had ruined the wheel arch liners!

Cut loads away went out again, still loads of rubbing.

Back again arch liners out still loads of rubbing.

Ended up putting the 12mm's on the rear and ditching the 20mm's.

So, to anyone looking, 12mm all round max! I might get some 5 or 10mm for the front but but not sure yet.

Could the issue have been made worse with your taller than standard rear tyres Steve?

Without a doubt plus I'm now on Eibachs so ignore me when I say 12mm max as it's all dependant on tyres and suspension! Good point!!

I think I'm nearly there with exterior mods! I've had the lower part of the front bumper wrapped in Gloss Black and have the 12mm spacers on the rear

I'm in contact with someone about producing some sort of OEM inspired front Splitter and then I will definitely be done. I was tempted by a 35i exhaust conversion but I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to make it something it's not so decided against it.

Hopefully meet a load of you on a Sunday

That front bumper looks miles better, do you mind telling who done it and how much?

PM is fine if not on forum...?

Thanks! I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

My cousin is a "wrapper" so he did it for some cash in his pocket. It took him about 30 minutes. A shop will probably charge around £100. Definitely worth it.

Surprised you didn't go for a custom remap living in Uk?

Only company I think I could trust is £600. I just couldn't justify it.

The Stage 1 box is from the same company who make the JB4 and any BMW forum recommends them so in the end, that was my only option.

I'm going to have it rolling roaded before, then fit it and have it tested again to see what the box does. I'm intrigued!

BMS Stage 1 fitted. Feels a decent amount quicker. Boosts harder, a lot more torque and it pulls stronger throughout the rev range. Looking forward to opening it up tomorrow morning, only had a quick blast this evening.

I'm also awaiting the paperwork for my new plate which I can't wait for!!

Car is filthy but I finally have a private registration! I know these aren't to everyone's taste and I wouldn't of spent a lot on one but my parents wanted to get me something I wanted for my 30th, my dad found this for a really good price. N26 for 26th November being my birthday and SPS are my initials so for a relatively cheap plate it's very well suited!

Hi Steve, good to hear you're happy with the tune box, did you get a before & after Dyno run carried out?

Not yet, need to get it booked in, I'll unplug it, run it, plug it back in and do another run. I'm not too bothered about the numbers, it's now plenty fast enough for me, I'm just so pleased that it's remained smooth and has kept all of the OEM characteristics there's just more power available.

I'm considering making it slightly louder. There's not enough exhaust noise at the moment. So 2 options that I can think of, remove centre silencer but retain the original rear silencer or replace rear silencer for something custom made. I'd then have black tips fitted slightly larger than original. Thoughts?

All cleaned...

Still have so many things I'd like to do with it and I think I'll be keeping it for a while now. Hoping to get rid of the Mrs's Mini Cooper (3 cylinders just doesn't work) and get here an A45 or RSQ3 so I can then keep the 2 seater!

So, I've started to play with the audio. I've never been happy with it after having some huge installs in previous cars and HK upgrades in more recent cars. I have the standard 6 speaker setup.

I was kindly sent some speakers from a chap on ph who used them in a Z4 (they're from a Mini, bigger magnet etc) ages ago so I finally fitted them to the rear and purchased some MB Quartz 4" coaxials for the front.

All fitted and it sounds worse! I've been advised to give the front speakers some time to loosen up but I can't see how they would sound worse so I've decided to take it somewhere for a proper upgrade.

I'm hoping to sort something out regarding the exhaust this week, whether that's a centre section delete and new tips or a dual system with a new rear diffuser.

The front Splitter is being sorted at the moment.

I'd then like to fit some sort of rear lip spoiler and have it colour coded.

I also need to have the front end resprayed as it's obviously had paint previously and it's not been done very well as it's now peeling :o

Update on audio upgrade...

I'm going with a set of components in the front, put the coaxials in the rear, fit a 4 channel amp with a 4 channel DSP and an active slim line 8" sub behind the passenger seat.

Hopefully that will be a huge improvement!
