My Z4 28i

I found an empty car park and propped my phone up... sorry it’s the wrong way round!

This gives you an idea of the noise, Windows all up etc.

On the motorway at 60-80 it’s still no noisier than the general road noise!

Really pleased with it, I just need to decide what I’m doing with the tips as they need replacing but I don’t want to lose the flap in the exhaust as I like it quietening it down at times.

Hiw is it for “drone” when sat at motorway speeds?

Non existent. I hear tyre noise over the exhaust when cruising. If you apply a tad more throttle tonsay go from 70 to 80mph then you’ll hear it a bit... sounds great at full throttle, up shifts, down shifts and over run though!

Sounds like it was a decent move....

I want to get mine remapped first but am struggling to find a recommended remapper within a 100 miles!

Hope you kept the parts you might have an issue come MOT time...

I did the same to a Vauxhall GSi a good few years ago, with a number of other preformance upgrades I went and did a de CAT back straight through to a back box in 76mm stainess steel (Bastuck) Exhuast.

Sounded great, helped the performance upgrades overall but as the years passed and the MOT rules got tighter I started getting questioned at my regular MOT station as to where is the middle section silencer. To get round it I bit the bullet and bought the sports mid silencer to suit the exhaust. Still sounded great and went like it was supposed to but with no more questions or worries MOT time.

Awful drone at motorway speeds with no mid section silencer too but I just lived with it as I did very littel M way driving back then.

Video clips sound

I’d recommend the Burger Motorsport Stage 1 Tuning Box

MOT shouldn’t be an issue.

No drone at all with the standard rear silencer. They told me if I swap that for and aftermarket silencer that isn’t chambered then it will drone a lot!

That's a great result

A good alternative to spending close to 1.2k (what I was originally quoted when I looked into performance tuning upgrades) for a custom made exhaust tuned to a sound of your choice.

I’m so happy with this at the moment!

Front Splitter is on, hopefully have some H&R springs on soon to get the front sitting lower and I’m nearly done!

I’ve also ordered some Carbon Fibre Exhaust tips to see what they look like!

Looking sharp Steve  have you attempted to remove the standard exhaust tips yet? I’ve heard they can be difficult to remove :x

Does look svelte that Steve , i would do the original under bar similar finish to complete the look

I’m going to have the splitter wrapped in Gloss Black to match the bar / Grills as I’m having the rear diffuser wrapped in gloss black to!

Nothing an air powered hacksaw won’t fix!

I’m having them properly welded on!

My exhaust tips could be pulled off, not difficult at all!

How much are the fancy tips Steve?

They’re about £120 for the pair.

The ///M ones are straight cut which I don’t think will look right. They’re an 80mm outlet which is about max you’d want with the twin exit on one side.

The Akrapovic tips are slash cut and 76mm outlet which I think will look better.

So I’m 90% sure on the Akrapovic ones (I just wish you could have them unbranded!).

Guess thats a reasonable price.
I had genuine BMW CF tips on the M Sport exhaust that I put on an m135i I owned.... they were £180.

I was looking at those a while back, can’t you get unbranded, pattern ones from eBay?
