Hi Guys, been on here a little while now so thought id best share come pics of my Ride, and a little about what I've done to date based on the forum information and help from several very helpful members.. Car is a 2010 2.3sDrive
This image is after i bought the car and stripped off all of the "unusual striping that was ruining what could be a good looking motor: :)

As you can see, ive polished it.

This last week i replaced the Ariel with a stubbie and the indicators with LCI variants - happy, although the car needs washing again....

List of upgrades and issues
1 Cruise - Thank you Dave (AnubisZed)
2 Battery - stopped all of the spurious bongs and battery low warnings
3 replace the salmon relays and both rear hall sensors on the arms. Roof now works
4 Replaced the roof motor cushion/support (was full of fluid)
5 Full service, oil and filters - still got the gearbox and diff to do
6 Started renewing some worn patches on the leather seats - minor blemishes
7 replaced the rear light gaskets and cleaned the lights - both badly fitted - no water ingress since
8 removed the boot seals and replaced all glue when re fitting, as well as removing the corner seals (the ones screwed down) and sealing these too. no more water ingress
9 drained all water from the boot, several large roundabouts, lots of cloths - no water damage though so all good
10 updated the satnav maps - again, thanks Dave
11 Remap - not for power, to improve drivability - very pleased with the results
12 Installed Inpa and Ista - looking forward to playing with that instead of my Carly..
13 started replacing all of the badges, wheels done, rest to follow..

So, not bad progress since November, but still more to do before my drive to Spain in April.

List of outstanding tasks
1 I have a set of MV1 alloys in black - I may put these on with new tyres, still un decided
2 new discs/pads all round - re paint the callipers
3 Gear box and diff oils
4 Spark plugs
5 If i have time, a mr 12 volts Mmi box
6 Brighter halos - another post to follow...

Think thats it, the car is currently in the body shop having the hood painted due to bird poop ruining the lacquer is a couple of places, not bad but annoying. plus, I damaged a little paint taking the striping off so that is also getting done. Looking forward to getting it back later this week.

I am a little worried that the roof motor was covered in fluid, will need to keep an eye on this once i start using the roof but tried it couple of time since doing this above and seems ok. I'll check all Allen's are tight and check the seals too.

I have to say, wouldn't have kept the car if i didnt have this mine of amazing information and access to s many helpful people on here. Giving your time for the benefit of others is amazing.. This is my second Z4, the first an 03 3.0, well specced and slammed as low as i could go. Sadly, the wife wouldn't drive it because it was too low and uncomfortable so i sold it.... Big mistake, maybe, or maybe not as it led me back to the e86. Both amazing cars, currently im thinking the e86 is better but, im still undecided. In any event, my daily ride is a f33 3.0d and I've only driven it twice since getting the e86 summer car :D Now, looking forward to a the drive to Spain..

Oh no!
So you spent all that time taking the stripes off to make it look better........................ then fitted a stubby :headbang:

Good to see that you're enjoying it and the car is getting lots of luvvvv!

You've done quite a lot already so good luck getting your list finished, hopefully before your drive to Spain.

I’m confused, all this talk of an E86 but photo’s on an E89 :?

Dyslexic 😎

Was it the previous owner that replaced the side BMW roundels with ‘Abarth’ scorpions?…. Well, I say Abarth, but their scorpion is the other way up 8)

Getting rid of the red mirror caps and the red grill pieces and odd badging would improve it further IMHO! Whereabouts in Spain are you coming to?

Its in the shop getting painted and that includes the mirror caps - I'm leaving the red flash in the bumpers front and back as i like that. Grill stripes already removed.. And Ive already started to replace the badges, wheels done rest en route.
Murcia, 15 minutes from the port of Mazarrone. Its a nice drive from here to Portsmouth, ferry to Santander then a fairly straight forward drive to Murcia. It's around 10-11 hours ferry to apartment with a stop for Lunch.

Yes, an interesting look, and it actually cost money to get that done apparently - Still, its getting there, and all in all a good purchase I think. It will see its life out in in the sun where it's meant to be.

yes, it was pretty dire to be honest, and getting that crap off the car was problematic. Still, it's getting there and I'm not going to complain, it was a bargain. I am tempted towards a 35 though, maybe that will be next.. Yours B21 look stunning and the list of mods is, well, huge and complex...

Thank you…I fall into the camp of ‘let’s spend ridiculous amounts of time and money …cause I can’ on my toys.. :tumbleweed:

Hopefully I won’t lead you astray!

I know it’s not popular amongst purists but my N20 powered E89 was arguably the best by far as a hooning / touring car…but as they say ‘I’ve started so I’ll continue ‘ with the 35is….
