My retro seats with EVEN better pics from RSJZ4 :)

A good read about the airbag... Never realised that join was for the airbag.

I'd imagine with the cross stitch that would never tear.

Those saying it doesnt matter... Sure the insurance company would have something to say should a personal injury occur.

I'd imagine the airbag would still rip the leather off. The stitching should still be the weakest point?
cj10jeeper replaced his leather inserts himself and found that the leather is bonded to the insert panel which is, in turn, plastic welded to the rest of the doorcard , once done he had to rebond the insert panel to the doorcard.

If they've done the same when recovering, the bond between leather, insert and doorcard should be very strong. The doorcard clips pop out quite easily when you're removing he doorcard and I'd expect them to be the 'weak link' in the chain.

Is that an Airbag badge on the door card? I am sure they will have some solution built in as they will know the airbag is there.

Just met up with Jonny, can confirm he was alive and well when I left.

He asked me to take some more pics for him (nothing amazing as I couldn't be bothered to drop the roof  ) :

The quality of work is amazing, and the smell, OH THE SMELL, I could move into the car based upon the smell.

If Jonny updates the title, to mention there's further, better ;) pics, he may get a more positive response :p

I'm not completely sold on them I must say. And whatever you do. Don't turn the wheel red as well, that would definitely be overkill. Just google a few wacky Porsche interiors to see how gopping it can be.

Looks brilliant
I had this diamond stiching in my fiat barchetta (limited edition - it was one of the LE features) and I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my m-sport seats eversince I bought them..

And as far as I know they can do the perforation for the airbag on the inner surface of the leather, without it being visible on the outer side

Great photos - can't help thinking that red carpets or black with a red highlight would tie everything in? Just a thought....

:driving:

Looks great Jonny, I also ne :D ed to know the cost?
£850 for me, for you £900-1k is the norm for this kind of leather and quality work carried out, i would say that anyone that has wear on their seats go to Paul at Trimstar and if you mention Jonny with the Z4 with a red roof he will look after you

And if you don't mention Jonny with the Z4 he'll take a crap in your boot.

My honest opinion.... (If I'm aloud one)
They have made Bad seats look better, but I still think Sports seats as standard from BMW would have been a better starting position as they look so much better.
