My Red Zed thread

Do you know if the wiring harness you used to connect your seats is still available?
I am having the same issues as you had. I thought my 2005 car would be pre-wired but unfortunately it isn't.

Kind Regards

Hi,
FishyDave sourced the looms from the USA - I think they were X3 looms. He then matched them to the Z4.
I'm not sure if he bought one or two extra. Your only other choice is to find one from a breakers, but I found that impossible because they fly out with the M Seats.
As Mark has mentioned the full details are earlier in this thread :

There are several threads detailing what a PITA it was to swap from standard manual non-heated seats to M heated electric ones in a face-lift Zed :headbang: – summary here:

Thanks Mark and Marlon. It looks as though this is going to prove a bit of a problem. But I'll keep looking and I'll try and get in touch with FishyDave.

Your seats look mint btw - good work  are you feeling a big difference in the bends? :driving:

A set of 224s running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on their way :)

Looks like you'll beat me to the fit - mine are sitting in Sydney waiting to see if my brother can get them refurb'd there, or if it's better to ship them to me and I get them done here. This has been a long journey (224 wheels), but hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

Your thread is great read. Funny how there's always 'one more mod' that wants doing. .
Glad you got the hoops done, I'm a big fan having had mine sprayed the same colour as the car when it was in getting a panel resprayed.

Thanks enzed4,
So you're waiting for 224s too :D
Mine are due to arrive by courier Tuesday, I will post up picks once I've swapped them on. I'm sure it will be worth the wait once you get your hands on your set

Yes the seats are really comfortable and support is much better than the original seats. I have been in touch with FishyDave who replied quickly with the link to the American company that provided your harness. Unfortunately when I tried the link it doesn't look as if it is still available. I am going to try contacting the company directly to see if they can help. Failing that, as FishyDave suggested I'll try BMW UK. I am also going to check out the option of wiring the seats directly to the battery through a fused power distribution block. Although having little knowledge or expertise in this area I need to be careful or I could do some damage. Thank you for your help. I'll let you know how I get on.
Kind Regards

Ian

They look brilliant Marlon. I must admit I would choose silver as my first choice rather than black. Although the black looks good. You are going to run out of ideas for improving this car soon. Then you'll have to sell it and start again. Let me know when you do!

You on the kerb there, Marlon? Angle looks a bit strange...
Nice set of wheels there, i do like 224's... but does that mean the A pillars have to change colour again :P

Thanks everyone :D
Yes I'm on the kerb Mark - and no I'm not changing the A pillars, grilles have gone to silver though  (and something else has changed for the eagle eyed :) )
