My poor car!! :(!!

Only just seen your post, I know the crossing on the Fosse extremely well and it's always been a dangerous one.
Glad to hear you are OK and hope you manage to get your car sorted one way or another.

Dont think he was planning on rebuilding but rather breaking for spares selling bits he deosnt want and keeping the good bits to fit to another car
 
I'd be very careful before you offer to buy it back. After a month sat in a salvage yard I'd be very surprised if there aren't already bits missing.

Just seen this. Sorry for you but at least you walked away. I would agree with other comments and compile list of similar cars and send that off. They should take that into account
 
no harm, but it's only 3 weeks today since you wrote it off, no matter what you were looking at 4weeks of haggling or them dragging it out minimum, like i said this is the entire point they want you to take the lower offer and inconvenience is the key.

I'm amazed you're still getting a rental car paid for, if you're getting that then there's no inconvenience other than it's not your car/you're having to chase them, while they're paying for the hire car, relax drag it out and wait till it gets to the point they will pay you close to what you want.

think buying it back and parting it out will be a ball ache, shipping stuff, advertising it, ebay cuts taken out of your sales, personally i'd rather drag out the settlement from the comfort of a free hire car than take a lower offer/or lower offer+parting it out
 
Hey all!

Well it has been over 2 months since the accident and the process has been massivley drawn out.... but I picked up my replacement car last night........

A lovely Metalic grey 2006 coupe with 37k miles on it!! So practically new! ;). (Ok I had my heart set one a black one, but this one was just too good to turn down).

I dont think the wheels are original Z4 ones, so perhaps you lot could shed some light on them (they are geuine BMW staggerd fit though).

Currerntly with black leather and piano black dash.......... I do have my old car back to break for pieces so contemplating putting the read leather into it and swapping the dash to the brushed alu one....

wheels are z4 wheels Style no 125 - don't see many of them around though ;)

Cheers for the info chaps! I liked the wheels, I just hadn't seen any other Z with them on... and I have been looking ALOT! ;). Now I know the code, they are easy to find online. If I was to be super picky they almost look like they need spacing at the back. Certain angles done seem wuite "right"...

Yeah, Si badge there.... Is that telling you something I might not know about? ;) Unfortunately I don't have the original spec sheet with the car but have noticed some extras my old car didn't (folding mirors, cargo nets, sub woofers behind the seats etc) :)
 
It looks great.

I like the shape/style of the wheels, but I agree with you that the offset doesn't look quite right on the rear. Also, it could just be the way the car is parked/settled, but it looks like there's a huge tyre to arch gap.

Glad you've finally had some closure on the accident and replaced it with a lovely low mileage Zed. it looks like it's silver grey in the photos.

Never seen those wheels on a Zed before. i think some spacers will set it off a treat as they look a little lost at the moment. Are they 18's?
The 3.0si badge shouldnt be on the back of the car (well it didn't come from the factory like that) but if you like it then that's all that matters!
 
Ahh Strange about the badge! Can always remove it I guess! ;).

The wheels are 18s... and although the correct size, the tyres do look a lower profile than the ones I had on my other car, perhaps the appearance/gap will improve when I change the tyres at some point.
 
Looks great although I agree you need spacers (or different wheels). The arch gap does look bigger than normal - if it's not an artefact of parking on uneven ground then perhaps the transport blocks have been left in the springs.
If you decide to swap out your piano black dash I suspect you'll have a queue of people around the block waiting to buy it from you!

I put alot of effort into finishing of the big strip of my roadster..... Sad to see what it ended up as, but enjoying my new coupe! and now have plnety of parts I suppose!

Thought y'all may like a nosey of a naked Z4! ;) Pretty light with everything removed, with a crane supporting the rear I could lift the front end. It is prety amazing how much "stuff" goes into the car.








Also, easy to confirm, the chassis was not a viable repair, bent chassis leg etc:






 
So tempted at ask what you want for that shell. And try and build something very fun with it!!! Hang on no i am skint and cant afford my own car at the moment :rofl:

A bit of jigging and pulling that could make a great track day car.
