My Number Plate has been cloned

I can not believe this is still rumbling on. You must be fed up to the back teeth with it. I really hope that there is a final solution and they can sort out which is which. How hard can it be for them?

This would really do my box in.

Absolute joke! Maybe the DVLA and the local traffic officers for the area need to possibly investigate just how long this van has been in the country and if it's over the amount of time allowed then they should sort it out.

Not only are they failing to pay these crossings but I highly doubt they have any insurance and god knows what state the van is in with regards to road 'worthiness'

Maybe it's worth just planting that seed with the DVLA?

Been there, done that. DVLA aren't interested. Van isn't that old. I'm sure it keeps going over the channel so probably doesn't contravene any rules.

When you SORN the car this November that's when their little party should come to a end .
So many traffic cars now have the ANPR system they should get a tug

Don't think it makes much difference. Don't forget when I got the warning from the police last year for driving on the hard shoulder that was also SORN, yet no mention of that at all. You think that St least the police would check for insurance, MOT and VED.

The part i don 't understand RE any police connection is when their gadgets are triggered on the ANPR to throw up no road tax / insurance they should be looking at a white Renault van yet their screen should be saying Black BMW Z4 ?
Id\be inclined when you SORN it this time to also stop the insurance , this to me is the only way the slick gypsies will actually get caught ?

Not sure what stopping the insurance would do, the SORN should be enough. Cam only assume if the van does trigger it they see the foreign plate and do nothing. The DVLA/Police would need to put a marker on my plate I would think to make them pull it over.

TBF my only real issue is DartCharge as this should have been sorted once and for all back in May.

Am i being a numpty here ?
The gypsies are driving a white Renault truck/van with your personal number on it ?
So how do the fuzz know its a foreign registered vehicle ?
As i see it if you withdrew insurance as well as the SORN it wouldn't take long for the ANPR system to alert at which point they should be pulled for a criminal offence as opposed to you receiving paperwork . The driving without insurance being a bigger no-no than no roadtax

I'm guessing as the physical plate will have the Romanian markings to the left, the spacing is different and depending where they are observing from the steering wheel is on the wrong side. I'm only surmising though.

Roadtrip to Romania and trigger every camera with your car, they will receive the tickets on their van then

No theyre not Andy. They have a genuine Romanian plate which although a different font, it has the same digits as Steves.

I dont think Sorning it would make much difference anyway.
There will be lots of cars on the road that is Sorned but still being driven.
Its not like Sorning it makes it impossible to be driven anywhere.

Agree but many patrol cars have systems on board that flag up when a car passes that has no insurance,MOT or tax , then hopefully they feel the shepherds crook

I've just received confirmation from my contact to say that the PCN has been cancelled and his payment correctly allocated to his crossing. (I've e-mailed Steve too )

I'm still trying to speak to the Dartford ANPR team and the technical issue of the ANPR not identifying a Romanian plate from a UK plate though! As you can see, there isn't much difference and both are legal plates. The ANPR doesn't recognise the blue parts, only the characters, so work needs to be done on the logorythm and recognising the slight difference in fonts.

Dartford just look for a payment for B78 BGG and if it isn't pre-paid, their automated systems goes to DVLA, gets the owners details and issues a PCN. No-one is checking that the registered vehicle types match the actual picture taken from the crossing....Yet !

(This is not SRHutch's actual plate, but a similar scenario, as to why he keeps receiving the bill for the Romanian Van that is crossing)

With the ANPR software I wrote, I had to use different character sets to recognise each country though. The RO plate would not be recognised by my software, the UK one would as I only loaded that template.

On our system we would still want to record all plates going through, but an additional marker is needed to note that it is not the traditional UK font and therefore it jumps out of automated DVLA enquiry list.
This doesnt seem to be the case at Dartford

So in a nut shell they lied to me saying it would go through "image review" if my plate came up again.

When they get the font recognition sorted I'm going to get a Romanian style plate and hire a Renault van and keep driving back and forth.

I dont know. As yet I'm only managing to speak to them via a third party tolling engineer, rather than direct. (My previous guys seem to have gone )
However, you haven't had any more PCN's through for the white van, only for the Z4, so its possible that they are verifying the DVLA results against the photo, and the last one slipped through because it was the Zed ?

I'm still trying to get a direct contact for myself there and then I'll get one for you.

I was planning to through the crossing tomorrow but this saga is putting me off so might go the M1 way instead.

TBH I wouldn't let it put you off. But I wouldn't set up a direct debit otherwise you loose control if they do screw it up. They will just take the money.

Well, they can take me to court now. This time it's for the crossing I made in May, have paid for and been chased already and been sorted at least once. Number5 has tried to help and I though he had been successful. Looks like he cursed that over the weekend
