Just to update you on the roof opening from key, as I mentioned mine didn't do this, however after a trip to Ben in London from bmkeys (on eBay) whilst he was creating me 2 spare keys I asked him to check options for the roof on the key, a couple of tick boxes later and I'm now able to do it from the key. So it is just a coding option.

On another note I'd be interested to hear about your alarm issue, as my alarm goes off randomly too. Be interested to know if it is your bonnet sensor. I think I tried disconnecting mine last year as a test, but the alarm still went off.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it. Never hurts to ask. In regards to the bonnet sensor I changed mine and the alarm now works as it should. It's about £12 from BMW so don't bother with the over Inflated used ones on ebay. Really simple to fit as well.

Fitting is so simple as well. It's dead centre of the bulkhead between the two chassis braces. Just unclip the wiring connector then squeeze underneath the micro switch and it comes out upwards towards the sky. Just push the other one in, plug the wiring connector and that's it's, no more embarrassing/annoying/petrifying moments of your alarm going off for no reason.

Also mate, love the look of your z and your 1 series. That's the silver I really wanted mine in but there was nothing local that was as good as mine.

Well officially owned my car for a month now and have loved every minute of it.....well apart from 1. Went through the congestion zone last Wednesday. Had so much on that I completely forgot about paying it. Plus didn't realise you only had until the midnight after to pay it. I always thought it was a monthly account, you got an invoice sent at the end of start of the month with how much you had to pay. Was the first and last time I ever go through the congestion zone!!!!!!!!!

I have a problem which hopefully someone on here will be able to help. Basically my log book isn't back from DVLA yet. I really don't want to have to pay the £130 if it ticks over 14 days before getting my PCN. I have emailed TFL with an automated reply of we'll get back to you in 10days. My question is this. Is there a number that I can ring where they'll give me the PCN notice number if I give them my registration plate so that I can pay it there and then over the phone?

Would appreciate the help, thanks everyone

It may be able to be programmed (if yours doesn't either) but I've not looked into it.

Tried it out when it wasn't raining, it doesn't work on mine. I got to go to BMW tomorrow anyway so I'll ask if they can just unlock it for me or will look at the Gaptech RCH. I think I saw a video on youtube from them with the Z4, something like 3 presses of the unlock button it opens, then closes after 3 presses on the lock button.

To drop the roof hold the unlock button down continuously.... it won't go up on its own though without a gaptech... but u might be able to change it in the car's coding so it does close on the key also..think i read that option when I was doing mine
 
Sorry for being really quiet on here. Been majorly busy with work. Car has been amazing and am loving it. Is anyone going to Santa pod tomorrow for run what ya brung? Will be my first time drag racing so wondering if anyone on here is going?
 
Know it's kind of reviving an old thread. But have just owned for Z4 for 12months :). Only had the bonnet sensor, vacuum pipe, 3 tyres and major service in the year :). So pleased and so much cheaper to run than my old e60 :)
