My old man used to have a 2002 touring in yellow too, as well as a silver 2002 tii albeit the tii was rotten, but I remember the touring being solid and always got attention even back in the mid 80’s.

Lovely. The 2002s have always looked well propositioned in pictures and I was still taken with them when I saw several of them at some car gathering somewhere.

some updates

I had a cooling issue which was an airlock. Now solved

The front suspension was factory still- albeit the shock inserts are ‘refillable’ oil ones. Still the oil that came out smelt like it was older than me…

The whole car shouts the level of appropriate engineering that went into German vehicles of that era. Well built, strong and functional.

It’s a dream to work on

M10 block was used as the basis for the F1 engines,made stupid power in qualifying mode.

Bilstein b8s still available on autodoc
Top mounts same although the brand isn’t one I know

M10 parts are readily available

Other things like control arms etc less so
