My own thoughts on the grills are conflicting actually (similar to cj10jeeper).
I think that the black looks more contemporary, more aggressive and matches the hardtop, but I like the ‘retro’ look of the original grills and the fact that they tie in better with the headlights and alloys. I can see why some of you are saying the black ones look ‘flat’; to me that gives the car a more modern look, whereas the original grills have a more ‘classic’ look imo.
Moving to black wheels and possibly black front lower spoiler is a step too far right now (I don’t want the expense of new or even refurb alloys).
So I’m torn really. I may swap between the two: black grills with hard top in the winter, and silver with soft top in the summer.
Talking about summer and winter – I keep promising myself to take the hard top off and store it, but then it pours down for half a day and I’m relieved that I’ve left it on.
