My new black Grills . . .

My own thoughts on the grills are conflicting actually (similar to cj10jeeper).
I think that the black looks more contemporary, more aggressive and matches the hardtop, but I like the ‘retro’ look of the original grills and the fact that they tie in better with the headlights and alloys. I can see why some of you are saying the black ones look ‘flat’; to me that gives the car a more modern look, whereas the original grills have a more ‘classic’ look imo.
Moving to black wheels and possibly black front lower spoiler is a step too far right now (I don’t want the expense of new or even refurb alloys).
So I’m torn really. I may swap between the two: black grills with hard top in the winter, and silver with soft top in the summer.
Talking about summer and winter – I keep promising myself to take the hard top off and store it, but then it pours down for half a day and I’m relieved that I’ve left it on.

You've left it on :o

Mines tucked away in the garage and isn't coming out again until October at the earliest... Well unless I decide to drop it off at a bodyshop for a ruby black respray but even then it will be straight back in the garage until winter

Next you'll be telling us you've traded it in for a Coupe :poke:

I'm enjoying it
As soon as it stops raining I will be taking it off and enjoying what's left of the summer.

Hmmnnn, really not sure about the black grills even though I have an unfitted set for my Melbourne Red E89 :?

Think I would put the old ones back on personally - sorry

You are living on the wrong side of the Pennines mate, I've had my roof down every day this week in Huddersfield

Since I bought mine in April I have never had the roof up other than to wash her but then again she has been in the garage for 3 months lol

More importantly buy some Auto finesse Satin for the tyres :thumbsup:I think they would look better if the outers were the same as the car.

Have you tried taking the silver outer off yourold grilles and using it on the black grilles? Might make it look more OEM. Result will be similar to the post above.

Allows scoop to stand out more

Yes it does, but that, in my opinion is an issue.

The black grills look great, much better than the originals, but I wonder if everything would look more tidy and symmetrical if the scoop was also black?

And will those of you with hard tops on please remove them - that includes coupes. You are telling the weather that it is Autumn!
