Well, had me roof off again today, the new motor i bought last month was very loud and sluggish, so i thought i would have a look and find out why.
When i put the new motor on i made sure to completely seal the housing, i can't stand the smell of silicone so i forced blue-tack around where the lines enter the housing then completely gaffer taped it up. I thought no water could ever get in there.
HOW WRONG!! when i opened the housing it was half full of water!!!!!
Just could not believe it!
Luckily i had wrapped loads of foam around the motor for a bit of sound proofing and this had soaked most of it up, the motor was still clean and relatively dry. A quick rub over with a towel and it was again like new.
The drains were clean, no water in there! :idunno:
Well i found out why it was so noisy, it was nearly full of hydraulic fluid, at least 2cm above the line. So took some out so it was level with the line and now you can hardly hear it
I also found out how the water got in there, my neighbor who helped me last time pointed out to me that i was placing the motor upside down!! I wasn't, he pointed out that last time he placed the motor housing in for me he put it in its place with the large end downwards!!!
meaning the leads coming out of the housing were facing upwards, towards where the water enters the drain
i said "YOU COMPLETE CUFFING TW*T!!!"
The water had run down the leads, somehow getting passed the blue-tack and practically filled the housing up!!
The moral of this post is, NEVER LET A TW*T HELP YOU WITH WITH YOUR ZED ROOF!! :x
Thanks for reading. Cheers, tug.
