So today's mission was successful! :D After a train ride from Peterborough to Chester-Le-Street, I'm now the proud new owner of a 2008 2.5Si in Sapphire Black with Dream Red leather interior - it's not badly optioned either. Here's some pics from when I bought it;

The seller, Gary, was a top guy, very honest chap. I don't know if anyone else in here was in the queue to see this one (was advertised on Gumtree) but it looked from his message list he showed me that there was a lot of interest in it. It's not 100% perfect but very good and better than I thought.

It's got 106k miles (and better than the £6k, 66k miler I looked at earlier in the week!) with full dealer history up to 6 years ago, then indy since then. I'm the fourth owner.

Had a great drive home with the top down (of course!) I got home to find my stubby and ZHP had arrived so I've already fitted those.

First job will be hit this with the DA tomorrow and get it gleaming. Also on the to-do list is rear pads soon (I think) MOT at end of September but tomorrow morning I'm already booked in for an aircon regas.

Looking forward to getting stuck in to this and Z4 ownership

I bet you enjoyed the drive home Andy! :driving:

Your car looks lovely and it seems to have some good options, especially the Piano Black dash and you've started the modifications already. (Although I'm not a big fan of the stubby).

So a list of questions already, hope some of you lovely folk can help :D

1. My car has Bluetooth phone preparation and the space for a Sony Ericsson in the fold down centre console thing. Does that mean I can connect my iPhone, or will the Bluetooth only work with the originally designated phone type? I do have the BT pairing code
2. The driver's window squeaks a lot when it goes down, but not at all going up. Anyone else had this? Is it a lube job for the window regulator?
3. I didn't notice on the test drive, but on the way home there's a noise present like an electric pump wiring. When you dip the clutch the noise goes completely. I'm certain it's clutch release bearing due to this (although the clutch seems fine) but the noise doesn't sound like a CRB I've heard before, so thought I'd ask!
4. Does anyone else find their seatbelt digging in to the side of their neck? I'm 5'8" and average build so not an exceptional size either way!

I think that's all for now! :D

Cheers
Andy

It was brilliant, loved it! I do need to sort wheel alignment too - it was a little twitchy/tram-lining and pulling to the right but otherwise excellent.

No more mods to come, I think! I'm usually Mr OEM but the ZHP made good sense and the long aerial will likely get bent by some scrote at some point, so seems wise too. I do prefer the less-cluttered look of it too!

Other than this, plans are just to keep it tip-top and enjoy it.

Andy

Good looking motor bud.

Yeah the seatbelt thing is a deffo pain in the ass

Stuart

Great purchase. The rest of the summer will be just that bit better now. 8)

Those legs though.

Car looks lovely & dream red interior too  . I found the seat belt issue a pain in the neck 8) too so fitted one of these pads on each side. They do tend to move around a bit but it's much more comfortable :D .

Nice looking motor there. Congratulations.
Funnily enough, the wife complained of exactly the same seat-belt issue so we found a pair of black Merino wool covers on Ebay for around a tenner. Fit nicely, stop the chafing and being wool, not synthetic, there are no issues with it being scratchy or too hot.
As for the stubby, well, by the looks of your photo, your aerial is now the same length as your legs. :poke: :D

Looks like you’ve found yourself a lovely looking Z4 Andy

My Zed suffered from the squeaky window earlier this year. The only cure I could find was to remove the door card and foam membrane and then spray the runners, cables and any moving parts. The main culprit of the squeak on mine was some small square plastic guides which are fixed to the window. It took several sprays moving the window up and down each time.
Thankfully the squeak has not reappeared so far 🤞

I did wonder previously why I’d seen quite a few Z4s with those pads on seatbelts. Now I know why! :D

My window hasn’t squeaked today so maybe it’s a heat thing?

So yesterday spent about 7 hours with the DA and getting the Zed looking a bit better. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than it was! I ended up doing a two-stage polish, I still have the front bumper to do and didn't touch the wheels or interior but I'm very happy with the results so far.

Next weekend I'll get the bumper polished and give the interior a quick going over. I need to give the roof a clean too.

Loving this car though - day three of ownership and I'm glad to say I've still not driven it with the roof up! :D

Congratulations, looks really good! I'll give you a wave if I see you around Peterborough, amusingly we even have similar number plates

I thought the paint looked really good , then you showed before and after and I can see how well it has come up :o . Congratulations on the purchase.Reference your questions, yes my iphone X pairs via the bluetooth but it can't download the phonebook so dialing out is not possible, (from the steering wheel) but you can answer calls.

Quick question for you [ref]Hairyarse[/ref], where is your roof motor? If it's still in the original position down in the watery well, are you intending to have it moved?

I ask because it seems there may be a visit arranged for a couple of the forum's roof experts to head towards East Anglia for a motor-moving session. But as they're coming from Hampshire and Bristol it needs to be worth their while, so need around 10 customers.
Nothing sorted just yet, but keep an eye open if it would interest you.

That's useful to know. How did you get it to pair though? I've not worked that out yet!

Not yet, the plan was to move it. I'll keep an eye out for it - if it's not crazy money I'd happily pay someone who knows what they're doing!
