My First Zed!

Ref the bluetooth I just put the phone in search mode, and followed instructions in handbook. If you don’t have one, just shout and I’ll put the info up here.

Thanks all for the welcome :thumbsup:

I do have the manual, but still doesn't seem to work. It says about holding down the button in front of the phone holder (outline of a face) then turn ignition on, then keep holding for a few seconds. That button is on my steering wheel, not by the phone holder. I tried with this one and it didn't come up in to pairing mode.

Open your centre console between your seats. Right at the front next to the OE phone holder is the button you hold.

Ok thanks mate, I'll take another look. Must be going blind!! :lol:

Here's a pic of what I've got. There's the arrow button which I assume would release the phone, if it was inserted. The Bluetooth symbol just pops the phone cradle out of the arm rest. Am I missing something else??

OK, now I'm confused! Maybe pre as against post facelift?

Not sure tbh. I have that button symbol on a button on my steering wheel but it didn't seem to work. I'll have another try when I'm back with the car.

Thanks for your help :thumbsup:

I saw something on Facebook earlier by coincidence, someone mentioned about changing the Bluetooth dongle as factory one would connect with anything later than iPhone 8.

That said, I’ve not even managed to get it into paring mode yet.

So I've fixed the strange noise I mentioned before. After some Googling I found this;

Exactly my problem! I couldn't still see how an oil filter could cause this, but for £7.50 it was worth a bash! I fitted a new, Mann filter last night and bingo, no more noise! Well happy! :D

The old one was all bent about;

A little tinkering yesterday. Fitted new number plates to clean her up a bit (no GB/Euro symbol or large, trader logo)

I tried unblocking my roof drains from above this time, from below the tubes are clear. A load of water came out the driver's side - nothing on the passenger so going to look at that one again

Thought I'd quickly polish up my exhaust tips too. However, nothing was quick about it! It seems the inner part of the lip was once painted black and the outer sleeve painted silver, so polishing took some paint off but didn't get them all shiny as planned (no after photo, I forgot!)

These tips of spring clips to fit rather than a bolt - much preferred - but I can't seem to find similar to buy. Anyone know somewhere I could buy the same type from?

A lot of us fitted these, "Top-Longer 2 x Stainless Steel Exhaust Trim Highly Polished" but, at present on amazon they are no longer available :(

That’s a shame

I have found them now - didn’t realise they were OE figment. About £45 each though so not cheap! May look at what else I can do with mine.

Fluid day today! 😀

Diff oil - pretty black, glad I did it although PITA I didn't realise there's no drain plug on the later, E85 diffs.

Gearbox oil - looked pretty damn good, I wouldn't be surprised if it's been done before

Engine oil - apparently 10k miles until the next oil service - I wouldn't have left it that long, looked pretty black to me!

Nice to have the Zed on the lift for the first time (although it's almost too small fo it! lol.) Underneath is really tidy - nothing to worry about for the upcoming MOT - hopefully!

Enjoy!
I bought my 2.5si four and a half years ago, so only six months to go till I've paid for it.
Other than consumables (tyres, oil etc.) I've not had any issues with it, apart from a corroding sump - just where the oil level sensor goes in. So keep an eye on that. It's a pressed steel job on my car.
Other than that, I love it to bits.

Thanks mate, I’ll keep an eye out for that.

Loving the 2.5Si. Such a great model I think.

It’s mine. Decided to bite the bullet and buy one at the beginning of the year. That said, only just managed to get the Z4 on it with some strategic (and safe!) use of timber as the arms on the lift are too long to hit all four jack pads.
