My First Post - Going to view this Z4 on Saturday.

Think we've got some autosol in the garage so will definately give that a go. Is that the only option? The metal seems like wafer thin, was hoping I could get something that made them look abit better.

You can buy chrome exhaust tip from the Stealers

If I hadn't had that other one as back up there would have been trouble!lol.

How much did you get it for in the end? Should have had the hard top for 6 and sold it on ebay for a bit more!

Will be getting kitted out tomorrow with all my stuff, get it home monday, clean it up, then go for a drive up town for a few glasses of coke as its student night. :D Park right outside the bars, sit, wait, and watch all the hot blonde students flock aound the car..ok maybe im exagerating a little!

Roof down, heated seats on. the only way :) Does your have the TV tuner?

Does this forum have any meets? The one im having is in wigan so hoping I can finish work early on monday.

Awesome, any Idea how much that is?

I got it for the Asking price and a full tank of optimax mate - i think it was an amazing price and dint wanna risk loosing it. yeah it has the TV etc - not that itll be much use in a few years as im sure its not digital!! Ive just got hold of the latest Sat Nav discs (Software/Firmware) so lemme know if you need them

Ooh yeah where did you get them from? Dont think mines ever been updated tbh.

How old are you btw? Dotn suppose you know where I can get cheaper insurance from?
I cant wait for this now, first really decent car ive had!

 cheers, credit crunch!

Im 25 mate and im with Chris Knott although you need to have prior experience in similar cars :(

Try Elephant and Bell - they were usually good for young VX'ers - make sure you put your Mum/Dad as named drivers - brings the cost down A LOT!!

Tescocompare also shows Halifax would be good for me :) Also goto www.quidco.co.uk and you can get cashback provided you get the insurance through the link :D

Congratulations Tommo.

I know you are going to love the ride.

As said before chrome tips are about £25 each (you need two) from a dealer.

Insurance - with age often come wisdom, but always lower insurance. When you get to be 43 with 8 years no claims you can enjoy £261 fully comp. Until then, you pay through the nose.

I feel like I'm 3 weeks ahead of you on the prep journey. I bought my 03 3.0 just under a month ago (I won't share price).

Just spent the day sorting out a headlight alignment issue and washing then polishing (5 star shine) her. Rain x, fitting the cruise control switch (god bless this forum and all the helpful people in it).

I did the roof treatment (Raggtop stuff) during the week.

Sometimes all a car needs is a new owner with some TLC. I'm sure you are going to love her and treat her well.

See you at a meet sometime.

I'll share my picture of my first Z4 2.5 with a compressor in it soon!

Regards

Sceptre

Try Adrian Flux, or BMW's own insurance. They've been two of the cheapest for me lately.

Adding my parents doesn't seem to help me much more lwith quotes this year, maybe it's since I'm over 25 now.

Bell is where I got my cheapest quote from. Thats with Mum & Dad as named drivers, saves me about £500!

Never thought about quidco, will check that out too!

Thanks Sceptre!

I think the chrome pipes will make a great xmas present from someone at that price :P

I understand about the insurance, and I dont mind paying it either, could have insured a 2.5 for £400 less but think Id be forever kicking myself for the sake of that much just for the first year! Ive also got 0 ncb as been on a company policy for the last 4 years :x

I'll take good care of her :D

Ah ****! I knew I forgot to check something...Cruise Control  Where is it located? Can anyone tell from this picture? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/images.action?R=200845322722130&channel=CARS&adcategory=&largeId=813430333

Edit @ Herminator.. Adrian flux wanted £3500

BTW - JUST A WARNING! SOME SNEAKY INSURANCE COMPANIES PERFORM A CREDIT SEARCH WHEN GIVING YOU AN ONLINE QUOTE! THIS CAN GIVE YOU A CRAPPY CREDIT SCORE! This very nearly bit me in the ass when I got my loan becasue over 3 credit searches in 3 months = negative points. It was direct line insurance if anyones interested. Place like Admiral, bell, elephant etc were showing up in my credit score but not as registered searches unlike Direct Line.

Same here went with BMW but Adrian Flux were not far behind see what my quotes are like for next year with the 3 points ive picked up this year :x

I'm delighted you found one that suited

In answere to the qustion over cruise control it cannot be seen from the photos. It's a small second stalk on the left side of the column cowling. Easy retrofit if missing.

Oh cool, something I will seriously be needing if I carry out my plans of a road trip to sicily next summer! Been kicking myself for not checking all night. Will be polishing it up and getting some pics up on monday night hopefully :D

Btw - Great Forum

I said earlier that the driver side side had a bit of wear where it was scuffed and had faded a little. Think herminator mentioned he was getting his done for around £80. Id like this doing ASAP, who should I use to do this? (I dont know what to look under in the yellow pages )
Has anyone got any before & after pics as Im abit of a pessimist :P

:D :D :D

Awesome! Cant really think of anything else to say :P Absolutely love it. Picked it up about 9 o clock last night.

Only problem is, I notice at very low speeds (crawling speeds), there is a squeak coming form the rear wheels :(
Any Ideas because it can get quite loud?

You said the rear Brake Pads were new? They probably just need bedding in or the anti-squeal shims may not be in. Its worth checking that the discs aren't scoring the pad also, if the discs werent changed. Just give the brakes some time and abuse - should be fine!

Sorry, been too busy :driving: Going to take it somewhere nice tomorrow night for some decent photos 8)

The discs werent changed and the handbrake is pretty weak aswell so Im not really sure where the squeaking is coming from. Its present at speeds under 10mph and its quite annoying! Are there any manuals knocking to taking apart the brakes and ajusting the handbrake?
