My Evoque

In the user manual is there a disclaimer to pin any malfunction onto yourself if it bumped a parked car? And then explaining to the insurance it was the computer's fault, honstly

Took the Evoque on it's inaugural run to the Ellan Valley Saturday. Nice place for a picnic! Late evening and me and the wife had the place to ourselves!

The last time I visited the Ellan Valley in a 4x4 was in a Suzuki Jeep! Had no fillings left by the time I got back home!! :P

Just sharing a bit of feedback.

I've just had my first experience with Land Rover service and local dealer over a small warranty claim.

Just a cosmetic issue, but the rear parcel shelf rubs the tailgate slightly when closing.

The whole tailgate is an injected plastic one piece unit and has a textured interior finish that is painted black (presumably to save cost trimming it). It looks very good actually, but the parcel shelf has been rubbing the tailgate when closing and has started rubbing through the paint finish (black) in some areas showing the white tailgate underneath.

The service guy said they know about this and Land Rover has a fix kit comprising of rub strips and a new, reshaped parcel shelf.
No need to bring it down to show them, they booked the car in for a day (the interior tailgate gets a respray) and they are giving me a courtesy car!

I said it was no big issue but the service guy said "It is annoying though and I wouldn't put up with it myself on an expensive car!"

From my experience with BMW over the years I would have had to take the car down, they would have had to photograph it and send them off to BMW for a decision if it was a warranty job or not which would take about a month to get and answer and when I would have booked the car in there would be no courtesy cars available!! :?

1 - 0 to Land Rover!

Depends on the dealer, there are bad Land Rover Dealers as there are BMW, Audi, Ford etc etc, in contrast my BMW dealer is top notch, for example, I ran over a football literally 2 mins from my dealer which bent the exhaust heatshield and was catching the drive shaft, called in, and they took the car in straight away, up on a ramp, fixed and on my way in less than 10 mins, same when the DPF filter expired on my 1 Series, late afternoon, was back on the road the following lunchtime. Be interesting how you fair reliability wise as Land Rover don't have a great track record but if you have a decent dealer then should be OK :)

I'm coming from the opposite end to breaker, I got the 'voque first then a zed. Both very capable cars that put a smile on my face regardless of which key I pick up on my way out of the door. Funnily enough both dealerships are on opposite sides of the same road within yards of each other 8)

Wow great pic

I recently enquired about a evoke for the wife... Landrover rang me back right away and arranged a test drive after 6pm even!!!

Sadly the wife fancies a merc now though :headbang:

An update. I picked the car up after the above was done and the dealer had updated the control software to the latest version (normal for most dealers when a car comes in I guess), but he had also contacted Land Rover to send me the latest Sat Nav software (or free!! Normal cost is £199 from Land Rover), and they had replaced my rear number plate because of crazing on 2 of the numbers (yellow showing through).

Looks like I may have got a good dealer here!

I agree it isn't always the brand, it's the dealer. My last BMW dealer on the service side was quite frankly useless and they were part of my decision to leave the BMW brand for a while. Another BMW dealer I used to use in a different county before a local dealer moved in was great but it was a bit of a trek to get there.
