I rent my DVR through my cable tv provider and generally don't have any problems at all. Recently I had to swap out the box because the DVR repeatedly froze. Now I am about to swap it out again... why? Because this "new" box they gave me wouldn't record anything. After the previous 3 days of me calling them asking what the problem was and why haven't they fixed it, they still didn't know what caused the problem. I made the mistake of mentioning that I was not using their remote (which you have to pay for anyway to use the box) and that I was using a harmony remote. Well today they came to the conclusion that my harmony remote control has caused my DVR to fail. I am still amazed that they came to this conclusion. HOW DUMB CAN MY CABLE PROVIDER REALLY BE??? I am pretty sure that the problem was they never configured my new box correctly.
