///Ms for sale...

Thanks gents - I appreciate the well wishing. Hopefully next week I will be able to do a full trip write-up, managed quite a few good petrolhead photo ops!

Sytner BMW - I don't like dealers but they made a very fair offer. Not sure where in their network it will appear though. Will miss her, for sure.

So have they bought it without seeing in the flesh?

I sold my CSL to Sytner Leicester a few years back and we did the deal over the phone. He came down, had a quick look about the car and gave me the cheque 5 mins later...he even let me have the car for another week before pick up.

Hutch they contacted me last week, made the usual low-ball dealer offer, I told them what I'd take for it - they came today, looked it over, agreed it was all as-described (and no doubt something they can shift easily), paperwork signed, cheque handed over for an amount that made me happy. Can't say fairer than that really. I still have the car for another day or two, I will probably give it a good drive tomorrow if the weather is nice.

Interesting to know.

Enjoy your new lenses :thumbsup:

Just like we buy any car. Maybe a few extra 100 quid but same thing....feel sorry for the guy who's going to pay the mark up - personally wouldn't have sold it to them...

Don't get dealer bashing. The AUC warranty someone will get, plus the trade/finance offer makes up for the £4k they'll probably stick on top of it.

If Sytner have made an decent offer and if the seller doesn't want the car hanging around then it totally makes sense. Will be looking out to see how long it takes Sytner to get it up for sale, and of course at what price.

A few years back didn't BMW delaers only sell cars up to 6 years old and no older?

I think that's still the case for standard cars. They certainly weren't interested in my low mileage 2008 120d in 2011.

I'd have no issue selling to a dealer if the price was right. I'd probably prefer it rather than have tyre kickers come round trying to knock money off at any opportunity

For what it's worth, for fun I put my car into WBAC. I don't understand why anyone would sell to them, but hey ho.

The offer I (eventually) got from Sytner was nearly six grand more.

With these cars I would check the service history 100% before buying otherwise AUC mean nothing.

PS this has nothing to do with this particular car. AUC is just a guideline so dealers will sell what they can get away with. Problem is you might find the warranty is worthless if something major went wrong.

AUC = Always Use Caution.

That's a brilliant result :thumbsup:

Whenever I have traded my cars in at AUC for another car I have always had my pants pulled down! Sytner are usually more expensive than other AUC dealers in my experience too so they are a good dealer to trade into.

Unless they just work on bigger margins :wink:

I think it helped that I wasn't selling a 320d - these cars are both rare and desirable - so not like dealers have a wealth of them to choose from. And mine won't need masses of prep for them, so they factor that in too.
