mr12volt install - CD changer coding advice

I saw that in a few of your posts. as removing the glovebox seems to be a pain unless you are Dave  ..... Has any one used a micro SD extension cable and install the Box behind the aircon controls or do you have to disconnect cables etc for updating.

Failing that I am going to investigate that location Reamsey

I fitted mine in the gap between the transmission tunnel and the lower dash, this can be accessed by removing the 3 screws from the passenger side lower panel which has the footwell light in, the gap is very tight but it will fit, whether there will be a problem with the unit getting hot I don’t know but it’s been in a year now and no problems.

I did mine behind the air con controls..fits very neatly and well supported..FWIW the SD extension cables are all AFAIK u/s..they pop out far too easily..given the unit is now stable I doubt there's going to be many firmware revisions so accessing will be minimal..last update was November 2023..

Yes, removing the glovebox can be a pain, so much so that I no longer do that when fitting these. Now I place it behind the air-con controls, it's a bit of a faf to get at but it's a nice fit, not too tight and not loose so no rattles.
As for updating it, there's not been a significant update for some time, just very minor issues, I think I'm about three updates out-of-date with mine and it works perfectly fine. With my box you need to remove the power cable to complete the update, but I've seen other videos where you don't need to so I'm not sure at the moment.

I need to do the latest update and tried to do it about a month or so ago. Unfortunately I didn't have a small enough memory card so had to partition a larger one, the update didn't work regardless of what instructions I used. Had to give up in the end but going to go again at some point

I think in behind the Aircon seems a little easier on the back, failing that behind drivers footwell.

thanks for the input... :D

@Dave Do you have a link please to any video of how to remove the trim in order to fit the mr12Volt behind the air con controls?

I liked this one the best for trim removal - perfect for the mr12volt install:

Installed my MR12Volt today....

Behind the Aircon controls - perfect location, integrated with OEM Mic also.

Android Auto - works a treat. Sound is a huge improvement after changing the speakers earlier....Thanks for the all the input and advice...
