MPG

I drive a 2,5Si and when driving highways (average roughly 160 to 170 km/h - fully legal here in Germany 8) ) I average some 12,5 to 13 km on a liter (which I think is really good if you compare it to f.e. a Boxster), when also driving around town I average some 11 km on a liter. But recently drove in France mostly on N-roads with the sportsmode on and consumption increased tremendously and I only got some 8 km on a liter.

I usually get RON95, several people have suggested to use RON98 which apparently should increase response from the engine but also should slightly decrease fuel consumption.
 
3.0 Auto drove at a steady 85 for a long run once returned according to the trip 33mpg normally round town and enjoying A roads non economical driving get around 26mpg.

When coming back from the Stealers through London including traffic jams got 30mpg
 
Just got back from a trip to Richmond--2 people, luggage, running about 73mph--33.1 mpg!!! One happy driver. :driving: (and remember, those are US gallons!)

I guess the problem with the Z4///M is in order to keep up with motorway speeds it has to use a lot more fuel doing it....working a lot harder than sayyy...a 2.0 for instance...so the 2.0 will barely break a sweat and will just sip the fuel....while the ///M is like a lil fat boy munching on crisps and cake..
///M's are fatties...no doubt about it :D

COntrary to that Ms use lot less fuel on motroway cruising. Its when u get to those blood country roads where u cant stop grinning and driving with a heavy foot and enjoy it. rip it properly. Hence we get low mpgs. anyways who cares. Having decided to go for M i dont care that much. if i need to drive say few days in my wife's car when she is off i would do so that when I'm driving my M i enjoy it every bit.
 
I do a lot of traveling for work so it varies, but at the moment im getting 31mpg - not too bad. I have seen it as high as 38mpg at times which is good.
 
The below car - only done one fill up to date, but it returned 28.6 mpg - just about all "round town", showing off and the like!!

I get about 34mpg (calculated the old fashioned way) out of my Coupe doing 430 miles commute each week - 300 of which is motorway miles.
 
2003 2.5se on a motorway trip of 145 miles it averaged 42mpg at 70-80mph, driving to work fast A road and some back B roads it averages 28-30mpg on a round trip on the motorway i nearly got 400 miles out of a tankful well chuffed
 
I can achieve 31-33 mpg but I normally upshift at just above 2,700 rpm. I only rev the engine to 4,000 rpm when overtaking.
 
In June i did a 2500 mile road trip around europe and got 37mpg from my 3.0i. This included 4 laps of the nurburgring, 150mph driving on the autobahn, lots of hooning on the alps and getting stuck in traffic in various cities.

This is why i love my car, if you go steady whilst doing the boring everyday driving the the shops the mpg is very impressive. Suppose it also depends on your expectations as to how satisfied you are.

Thats incredible....

How come the mpg is so good? is it to do with the weight of the car or the engine??? I'm coming form a 1.9TDi Audi that regularly gave me 40-50mpg.

I still have to pick my 3.0i up from the dealers, due to delays by the DVLA!!!!!! Frustrating!!!!!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

There's another 3,000 rpm just waitning to be used, please tell me you use them.

Probably a combination of being lightweight (relatively) and having an efficient modern engine with double vanos. A long 6th gear and decent aero help it on long runs.

Certainly drinks like a 6 cylinder petrol when you give it the beans though!
 
I average about 30mpg a tankfull. Mixed roads on commute to work.
Best I have had was 37 mpg on a run to the lakes, was following my mates 40 year old Triumph Herrald at 60 mph most of the way. Not bad for a 3.4 litre engine.
