mpg for Z4 M 3.2

Hadn't spotted that till you said. Im willing to bet no one else had either!

I had, you do wonder how sometimes these super old threads get dragged up.
Anyway, to add some variation this is what mine usually averages around after a day when it's let out. 2 tanks normally used Not on a public road though!
I remember once seeing 2mpg on the readout of an xj-r I was driving at some speed so it doesn't seem that bad :-D

Motorway driving is generally north of 30 Mpg. Round town can be anything from 22 - 27. If you boot it, then don't bother looking...

On the ring, unless you're some kind of God/madman you will never drive the car as hard as on a smaller track you know well.
The average speed on the ring is also quite a lot higher I think compared to most tracks so must (beneficially) affect mpg also. (that may be total nonsense though, but it seems to make sense in my head, less braking and accelerating, bearing in mind the throttle is generally used WOT in both cases?).

There is a lot to be said for the little 4 pot then. I can get between 450 / 500 miles on a full tank

I filled up the other day and the computer said I had a range of 232miles

Mine only seems to do around 19mpg but it's not used enough to worry about it.

Really depends on how you drive it. If you are having fun the s54 is a total pig. 20-25 mpg on average though.

Long cruise with a very disciplined right foot will head for 30mpg. General driving 23-25mpg, sustained spirited drive 17-21mpg.
Averaged 23.7mpg on 2500 mile Euro tour which included autobahn, 5 Swiss passes and Route Napoleon. My 3.0si averaged 26.6mpg on the NC500 and when driven spiritedly would return low 20s. One good aspect of the si was it could achieve 38mpg on a long very steady motorway cruise. We decided there wasn't that much of a difference between the twos' mpg so kept the M.

Mine is sat on 24.x and has been for a while. Mostly fun miles but with a bit of steady town driving to reach the nice roads.

Best I saw was 36mpg (indicated) after a long and steady trip from Italy to England. Seems improbable but it included a long, slow descent through the Alps behind a couple of trucks and that seemed to carry through over the course of the trip. This then spurred me on to see if I could maintain it :? I'd normally expect to see high 20's-early 30's on a normal, mostly legal-speed motorway run.

I was contemplating switching from my previous Z4 3.0Si Coupe to a Z4M but was a little worried about fuel consumption for a daily...then I ended up buying a C63 where anything over 20 is good!

I get 11.4mpg with my Z3 MC with the same S54 engine around The Ring. The Z4MC does better MPG because it has a 6-speed box whereas the Z3MC has a 5-speed.

You're sort of right. The Nordschleife (a.k.a. The Ring) is a road course rather than a typical short circuit racetrack so the fastest laps require a flowing driving style rather than aggression. Knowledge of the track layout and use of the cambers is essential. You don't want to make mistakes there otherwise it can be very costly indeed and plenty people do.

I’ve never seen more than 25 mpg and that’s would be on a long motorway trip. I usually see high teens and regularly see 9mpg on a track day. I can’t remember getting under 9mpg, so I wonder if that’s as low as the OBD indicates.
By comparison, my RS4 usually returns a figure in the low to mid teens, stretching to low 20s on the motorway. On a spirited drive on country lanes it averages around 10mpg

If your using 6th gear on any track, you really are bimbling around or an lot better than me at preserving your corner speed. :wink: At Spa, with some very long straights, I wasn't even getting out of fourth, when I was going for a lap. :wink: No idea what the mpg was to busy.
