Moto GP

Yep! I'm sat at the race track in Czech Republic watching the race in indianapolis on tv.
Some may say they are a bit crazy...

Anyone watching? Those crotch rocket jockeys certainly have cast iron balls. The on board camera views are amazing!

only ever had dirt bikes & i,m a total car nut but these guys are off the scale  crazy stuff that makes F1 look like a stroll down blackpool pier :)

love it rossi at Yamaha next year so he should be back to form...

Its the way they slide the bikes on the tyres... just brill just brill

As much as I admire Valentino, I can't see him winning next year.
I hope he doesn't do well to be fair, as he's bad mouthed the Ducati so much!

I am a bit biased though as I work in the paddock...

Certainly much more to it than F1. Proper racing!

I like it but I'd far rather watch F1 personally given the choice but then I've never really been into bikes so that might explain it.

This year the racing has been great. The top three or four are close enough that if one of them messes up the others will leap frog ahead.
I also like F-1. BUT! 90% of the time pole wins. :zzzz: Unless the pole sitter breaks or crashes out.

I met a bunch of the Moto GP riders while living in Japan in 1987. Even went bowling with Kevin Schwantz and his father. Had breakfast a couple of mornings at the Suzuka riders buffet with Mamola, Lawson, K Roberts, Rainey, Gardner, And Barry Sheen (RIP). One thing they had in common was none of them had a pretentious bone in their bodies. And had no problem chatting about bikes with the likes of me. (an Air Force guy that lucked into a press pass from a British moto journalist) It is a very cherished memory.

+1

All of the ex-riders will always stop and chat. Most of the current ones will too, with the exception of a couple.

One of my favourite motor sport related movies. Always on my iPad to watch on long haul flights.
Real insight into their passion and in some cases the personal cost.

+1 Really genuine people, without all the commercialism and PR you get around the big money motor sports. I like watching most motor sports, but there is something about the TT, where a small team with very little budget can turn up with a bike in the back of a van and compete at the top level of road racing.

I just really like the rider's honest and non pretentious attitude, I think Guy Martin has had the same press training as Wiggo, ie. none :D

I'm with you fella

Am a big MotoGP fan and have been since the days of Spencer, Lawson, Mamola etc.

Not a Rossi fan at all.

What do you do in the paddock?

Cheers

masive bike fan all my life and i find motogp boaring this weather,
Irish road racing along with the TT and a few other world wide road races are by far the best racing you can get.

gp need something injected into it to make it a bit more spicy,

f1 is not much better imo 250cc gokart racing is mad and a bit more like it

Rossi has been bad mouthing the Ducati as IMO it needs it, relatively speaking it's a pile of junk.

Whats the point in hiring riders to develop a product then ignore them, especially when it appears they are all telling you the same thing. It's the same attitude that caused Stoner to walk away and we all saw what he was capable of on it. The Ducati was a one horse trick back in 07 on it's specially built Bridgestone tyres not the spec ones like now. Remember China that year, Rossi riding the wheels off the Yamaha to come on to the back straight 50 - 100 metres in front, just for Stoner to ride past him on straight line speed.
By all accounts despite the new frame the same basic Ducati flaw remains, no feel in the front. Which is why Stoner started having so many front end crashes again coupled with the spec tyres. (according to Mr Emmet on Motomatters anyway)

Ironically it looks like Rossi leaving is actually causing them to go back to the drawing board and start again, so who knows what might happen next year.

I just hope he has better luck than Spies has had this year on the Yamaha.

Wonder what odds you'd get on Rossi winning in Qatar next year.

I would take Mr Emmett's opinion with a large pinch of salt if I were you Richard!

There is much more to Ducati "not listening to Rossi" believe me!

I guess we will have to wait until next year when someone else takes his seat!
