MOT Question

A bit of a strange going on this morning regarding the MOT on my 2.5i 2005 Zed.

I have a BMW insured warranty and a FBMWSH, the car has done 32K. I get it serviced by BMW but sometimes have the odd non-warranty job carried out by a local indy if they cant match the price. My local indy was much easier to get to for the MOT ... so in it went ...

The indy MOT'd my car this morning and rang up to say that it had passed. He mentioned that there was a nail in my O/S/R tire but it didn't cause it to fail but that was all.

Just checked the advisory certificate and it said (as well as the nail) "Cant inspect osf wheelbearing brake binding" ..... garage now closed for lunch. Surely if the brakes were binding it would be a failure of the MOT? Really don't understand that ...

Any thoughts would be appreciated opn what that actually means!! :)

Sometimes they issue an advisory note if a part cant be inspected due to the engine under tray. Some places will put an advisory, some dont.... pot luck I guess

He suspects there is a problem, but can't get to it, so issues an advisory FYI as he has no right to fail it.

Advisories like this are often as Adamshi says due to lower trays, or other covers and shields. Not seen one related to brakes though.

Thanks Adamski / cj10jeeper, much appreciated, I suspected that it was minor as they probably would have commented to me when I picked the car up.

I am due a BMW Oil Inspection in a few weeks so will ask them to check it out when they have it.

They also mentioned there was very slight play in the front ARB Bush (but no advisory), I read CJ10Jeeper's thread on the front end suspension refresh. I think I am going to go for that next year, although I don't want to lose my BMW Insured Warranty.

Thanks Again!
