Monroe struts and top mounts binding

Enuff_zed is bang on with his torque specs but it takes a brave man to hit 64nm on that top nut. The hex fitting in the shock never feels like it can cope. Maybe I should be torquing to spec once on the car??
I must admit I don’t do it that way. I have a floor mounted hydraulic spring compressor which helps. I have a set of mole grips with nylon jaws (thank you RAF obsolete kit clear out) so I grip the shiny bit of the strut with them, then tighten the top nut that way.

Thanks Enuff_zed those torque settings are useful, especially the knuckle bolt, just waiting for the correct washer to arrive then I will be back in business!

As always this forum and you guys spot on!
Managed to put my new struts together with some issues with the spring compressor but finding another post here where @enuff_zed explains how he has done it helped me a lot. Managed to torque the top nut up to 64 without rounding the hex with allenkey as well. One job done. THANKS!!!

Update - I got the correct washers, and had the struts properly assembled by a friend. Just finished putting them on the car and everything is looking good. MOT on Monday, wish me luck!
Thanks everyone for your help.
