I must admit I don’t do it that way. I have a floor mounted hydraulic spring compressor which helps. I have a set of mole grips with nylon jaws (thank you RAF obsolete kit clear out) so I grip the shiny bit of the strut with them, then tighten the top nut that way.Enuff_zed is bang on with his torque specs but it takes a brave man to hit 64nm on that top nut. The hex fitting in the shock never feels like it can cope. Maybe I should be torquing to spec once on the car??
