to me an Alpina should be as fitted

GLWS though

C'mon Peter  its a CatD car so never going to have a "unmolested from factory "pedigree
All the tweaks, mods & upgrades make this a true one off example of a Alpina & with gen CSL,s & a hardtop is terrific value at £9k :o
Truly stunning in S grey with the aeros & clear lamps

yes I totally agree and its a great car, I'm just saying if I was looking at buying a car I would want it as close to perfect as poss

Just as it was a cat d doesn't make it an uncared for car or water down its pedigree at all as long as the repair was done well.

The car was modified by Simpson Motorsports for Brad Curtis for track days and at some point to have a supercharger fitted but never got done the car is on their web site under projects cars if any body is not sure on cat D like I was at first give Simpson a ring like I did.they know the car inside out if this car was not a cat D it would be double that price. I have had quite a few car from 2.8i Capri with twin turbotecnics mk1 golf g60 964 911 e46 m3 and out of all the cars I have owned this is the one I have had the longest the car sounds awesome and sticks to the road like its on rails not the fastest car I have had but for some reason love it to bits

it really is a beaut and to label its track car is a injustice, its a dual use item like the GT4 cayman, with all the right kit to be able to tackle any track , and a real road warrior , must be a pleasure to drive , id love to see it with the HT on wink wink ..... it even looks exotic, total beauty.

Like i said one of my FAVE cars on the forum... and has been for a long time.

its always a real shame when a car is CAT rated especially one as tasty as this as sadly it does limit the value and want level for the vehicle. BUT.. for this price this is a serious car.

should have worded that different brad Curtis used this car as a daily driver and for track days the car was cat D before he purchased it will try and get some pics up but still raining in wet Sheffield
Beedub that was my plan to have the supercharger fitted at some point but the job front has took a turn for the worst
Thanks for all the comments

I've always been wary of 'CAT D' cars that claim they've only had a minor bump - as my thinking was that an insurance company wouldn't write off a £40k car for £10k worth of damage.

However, since my accident, I've been reading more and more, and have slightly changed my view - although I'd still not buy any CAT car without lots of photos/receipts/engineer's reports - as it's too easy to say 'professionally-repaired light front damage' when it was actually 'weekend DIY repair with ebay parts complete front-end replacement'.

In some cases new, or young, models will be cheaper to replace with a brand new car than it will be to repair - i.e. a £90k M6 might have an accident that would cost the insurer £10k, but the insurer knows they can buy a brand new car for less than they value of the repaired damaged car - so it saves them money - and we all know insurers don't want to spend anything they don't have to.

Saying all that, if I'd accepted my write-off instead of a repair, I'd be all over this

That's why before i purchased the car i contacted Simpson Motorsport who did all the modifications on the car and they said the car was 100%and Simpson are not a back street garage they are motorsport engineers who know their stuff

What is the build number please? Have it stopped raining yet? Been raining here since October....

Hi Zedwheels
The build number is #203
Still raining was planning on giving the wheels a good clean this weekend
All I've done is taken the dogs a walk

excuse me, didn't read this fully, really sorry to see the car go over the work situation, fucking tough stuff man..... your really going to miss this i bet....

you have to make these decisions when the s**t hits the fan, my worst nightmare and trust me, I've come close to making the same decision a few times for similar work problems over the last near decade of owning my Z.... hope things get better mate, wish all the best.

Thanks beedub
makes sense to sell the car will be back on the road chasing work contracts to contract don't think I'll ever own another car like this gutted but needs must . Hopefully the new owner will put the supercharger on it that it deserves will still hang around the forum and hopefully when back on my feet another road warrior will be created thank again pal

I remember this car being up for sale back in 2010 when I was looking for a Roadster. I must have lost out to you projoy as it was sold by the time I got around to enquiring about it. I was gutted at the time. I'm just going to have to resist now...!

I buy this car.

Thanks to projoy for your patience with me -
because I never was in the UK and I never imported a car to germany.

In mid-February I will fly to UK and then drive the car to Germany.
Will be a long ride - the longest "test-drive" I ever had

Some pics as requested waiting for its new owner the suspension is set a bit higher
To allow for speed bumps the 12/02/16 will be a sad day
