Modified Alpina for sale

I must admit I'm not usually a huge fan of the alpinas but that looks stunning in those pictures. I think it must be the wheels that make it look different.

Congrats on the sale OP, looks like a cracking car for the new owner

lovely looking car
those plates may cause some confusion on the Autobahn on its way back home

Is this allowed in UK (to have "D" on the left side)?

No driver on the left seat will cause a bit more confusion

I buy this car.

Thanks to projoy for your patience with me -
because I never was in the UK and I never imported a car to germany.

In mid-February I will fly to UK and then drive the car to Germany.
Will be a long ride - the longest "test-drive" I ever had

Congrats on the purchase. Amazing car - you are a lucky man!!

Both the font & 'logo' on the left are technically 'illegal'.

But you'd have to be stopped by a copper and then ignore the rectification order, or be mouthy, to end up with a car ASBO or £60 fine & 3pts.

You can display one of the following flags with identifying letters on the left-hand side of the number plate:
  • Union Flag
  • Cross of St George
  • Cross of St Andrew - also known as the Saltire
  • Red Dragon of Wales

The letters, or national identifiers, you can have are:
  • GREAT BRITAIN, Great Britain or GB
  • UNITED KINGDOM, United Kingdom or UK
  • CYMRU, Cymru, CYM or Cym
  • ENGLAND, England, ENG, Eng
  • SCOTLAND, Scotland, SCO or Sco
  • WALES or Wales

Don't they also allow the EU flag now, with GB as the member country?

Probably I have to make some changes to get german registration and TÜV (german MOT).
I'll keep you up to date.

What are your plans for the car then, (as you already have one already) ?

My present RS is a garage queen with only 17.000 miles - my son is not allowed to drive it.
He always had the right seat - daddy on the left. So we have not to change this rule.
The next one will be on the road and he may also drive the beauty.

Update:

Yesterday I started at 6 o clock from Frankfurt to Berlin (by plane) and from Berlin to Nottingham.
12:30 Nigel and I shaked hands and he gave me a free ride from the airport to his house.
The car is like the pictures - everything fine.
Nigel is a very smart and fair guy - thanks Nigel for all your support and kindness and the british refreshment :D

2 hours later I was on my way back. I had a lot of problems with driving on the left side and after 10 minutes the left front rim had scratches

At 7 o clock I bought the Euro Tunnel ticket and the train startet at 9:45.

From Calais I had another 4 hours driving - through france, belgium and germany - back to frankfurt.

At 5 o clock in the morning I was at home. 640 miles testdrive with my new Alpina Roadster S :driving:

Today I brought the car into the workshop (a friend) and he will show the car to the german MOT (called TÜV). Afterwards we know exactly, what we have to change to get the TÜV.

It was my first visit in UK and I enjoyed this "little adventure".

Update:

Next week is the next (third) try to get TÜV (german MOT).

Until today we changed:

- the complete exhaust system, including the 2 catalysts
- the complete breaks in the front and the rear - front is original - in the rear E46 M3
- 2 new Alpina springs in the front - original springs in the rear and 4 new bilstein shockabsorbers
- 4 new camber plates
- 2 Xenon front-lights
- and some smaller parts

Hopefully I get TÜV next week.

Afterward I will offer all the removed parts for sale.

We'll look forward to seeing some updated pictures. Good luck with the TUV

(I also could be interested in some of those parts too.)

hi i could be interested in the headlights

The never ending story goes on:

No we have 29th of march and still no TUEV (MOT).

The MOT has passed so far - but to get the new german car registration papers from the MOT-Station,
they need a exhaust emission test certificate from ALPINA.
Last year this certificate was free of charge and easy to get.
But from this year on, ALPINA only give this certificate, if I send the ECU (engine control unit Motronic MS43) from the car to ALPINA.
Then they will program the ECU for the "german emission rules".
And it costs about 200 Euro.
Maybe the reason is the "Volkswagen emissions scandal". I don't know.
In the ALPINA parts catalogue there is NO different parts number for the ECU.
So today we send the ECU to ALPINA and I have to wait another week or more to get the car on the road.

Hopefully the next post can show the car with german plates on the road :driving:
