Anyone got MM tips on their E89? I'm not sure if they'll suit mine so any pictures will be appreciated

I asked him about them, but I couldn't get the old tips off mine to give him the measurements.

If you can do that, then I'm sure he'll do you a set.

All those lovely tips the cars are looking great in the picture above.

Yes i can make them for the e89 i just dont have all the dimensions i need. Different engines usually have different exhaust systems. I have the dimensions for a 3.0l now thanks to z4jon who will be receiving a set soon.

Is there any before and after pictures on the E89? I cant get my exhaust tips clean so would be interested in changing them. What part of the exhaust needs measuring, I have the 2.0litre?

Hi buddy you would need to take off the old ones. Usually they need a twist and pull. I would then need the diameter of the pipe without a tip. I don't have and pictures I am afraid.

Where are the joints? On the left side I have no visible internal or external join that doesn't have a seam weld & on the right side while I can see an internal join without welding, on the outside there are 5 tack welds.

This. Mine are welded. I masked the car when I painted mine black.

Sorry I am not saying yours are not. But I have got a set off before and there where no welds. They may have been a revision at some point.

I do remember them being very difficult to get off. I had to really hammer them from the back to tap them off.

Agreed. I think it depends on the model. My old 3.0 e89, they could be removed no prob. 35is are welded, for some annoying bmw reason, :|

Witch is weird as I have done 2 e89s a 2.0l and a 35si the only thing I can think of is that the guy I did them for removed the welds first?? I will ask him next time I see him.

The other thing I guess is that it's a face lift pre facelift thing??? (Not sure if that has happens with the e89) but on the 85 there is a big differance between the cars.

Honestly I think they just tack welded the right hand tip on for a little more security, a 4” grinder or even a Dremel would easily liberate the tip. However, the only joints I could see on the left tip have internal seam welds so I think are very hard to remove. I could be wrong of course hence asking the question of where the joints were.
