The bonnet design is not the best in terms of material and how they stand up to that impact but things could be worse, plus if it had hit the bumper and caused that damage would you still think you could argue with BMW over a 'design flaw' probably not.

You're correct Angie from what I understand it was something that fell off a tipper lorry and owner couldn't get hold of them. I would imagine if the bonnet was just plastic or steel it probably would have stood up better but from looking at that pic I wouldn't be too pleased at how easy the panel has shattered unless designed too![]()
