Apologies if this is a repost.

A fine example of what the European Commission is all about. All of us would be knacked to start.

I find it an absolute farce that this has even made the table.

Though it would result in EVERY Barryboy being taken off the road AND every fake //M being stripped of its badge.

Every cloud and all that.

if it means that stretched Ferrari 360 goes bloody good job, can we put all those stupid stretched limo's as well :headbang:
and as from November last year all cars made before 1960 don't need an MOT. start looking for a car now.

I know it wont happen (same as most things that come from Brussels).

I think the point I should have made was what value do we as taxpayers get from this shower of Euro b**locks. A lot of highly paid idiots who debate illogical nonsence.

Since that article was written there has been a revised proposal submitted, which will actualy mean that classic cars or cars over a certain age will be exempt. However all those mods using non OEM parts on your cars may well be illegal, if it has no certification to a the relevant EN standard.

And this is what the legislation is about, ensuring that modifications are to a relevant EN standard to ensure safety. The reason why most people don't fit cheap replica wheels is due to their perceived quality, however buying from BBS you know that they are manufactured and tested to an EN standard.

and yes it is really happening

Sars do you have a link to the revised proposals or know what the proposed cut off point for classic cars is?

At least the insurance company won't ask the question "has your car been modified "

So fundamentally parts have to be EU approved?, so people could still choose to make modifications as long as it has a EU approved. Eg no jap or us import stuff

That sounds almost impossible to police? not to mention time consuming for the MOT stations, what a waste of time and money

Next step: MOT price (most expensive in Europe at the moment anyway) will go up to cover this additional work.

Like the idea of caravans undergoing an mot. Can they be taxed as well?

Tapatalking...

Makes perfect sense to me. As a non-caravan type person i would have thought they would have had to have passed an MOT anyway :headbang:

Many accidents with caravans due to the tyres being perished with age, not tread.
