Milestone!

Well you might as well scrap it now mate
(according to some owners!)
Only another 18k to catch mine up!
Wishing you another 100k of M smiles.

It's the way we've been conditioned over the years. I'm struggling with the concept of hitting 50K.

At least it will take me another 25 years to hit 100K

Unfortunately we are, as has been mentioned, conditioned to see 80,000 as the life of an engine, drivetrain and suspension. Time to ring up and get a refurbished Goldseal engine!

It’ll be fine...for another 40,000 miles anyway, as that’s when mine presented the next big bill (for a clutch & flywheel) :P

Your original clutch lasted 140k miles?! :o
Yes.

No sign of pending failure until the day it just wouldn’t disengage.

BMW wanted over £3k for a clutch & flywheel replacement, but got an Indy to fit OEM parts for about a 3rd of that.

I guess the long, easy miles on the motorway helped, but it did do a fair number of weekend blasts, Ring trips & track days.

Past 60k on the Snowdon trip a few weeks back. Seem to be doing a few less miles these days. down to around 5-6k a year now. :driving: :D

Tom would have this car scraped in a heartbeat

Loads of 100k+ M3 rolling around, keep up the good work Alfa :driving:

Oohh thats a big milestone, or even millstone possibly when it comes to selling, but i guess its a forever car as you have obviously enjoyed driving it loads. Mine unfortunately had become a garage queen the last 15months due to buggy project but unsorned now and I am eager to get driving as i can afford to put some miles on the clock as only did 900 between last two mot’s. Have you noticed any issues as the miles increase? I sold my z3 m roadster at 70k as i was getting worried about it clocking up too many miles , then it went up in price by 4k in a couple of years :headbang: 👍

I dont think I will ever sell it. I drive the car almost every day and it still feels great to drive.

I do need to do some preventative maintainance this year and spend a few grand.

I was going to ask on here about where I should go as I don't have anyone in Scotland. I have always serviced at the dealer but don't fancy paying for vanos and bearings along with its yearly inspection at the dealer. Think it's time for a specialist as so far it's all been dealer apart from oil changes.

I realise I live in the middle of nowhere but would travel anywhere and incorporate the trip into a bit of a break.

Once i have a few suggestions I can ring around for a price and then take a view.

That's the plan, over to you.

Thanks in advance.

B for BMW in Clydebank has had some decent reviews, I was thinking of them for my next service.

Just had a look and as you say the reviews are good. I will give them a call and see what they say.

Thanks Bottom.

We will get out for a run soon. At least when we get rid of the snow / ice although since changing to my Winter tyres it has made a big difference.
