Yey yey!!! Another silver coupe :sweetheart: ..Beautiful choice, both of them are gorgeous cars. You won't have any regrets
And welcome to the forum.

Excellent introduction! Welcome to the Forums!

Those both are very nice cars... Q: what was it that made you switch from an SLK for a Z? I'm just curious. :)

Loved the SLK350 for the first 2 years of ownership. However, a few minor problems in the last 9 months (water leak in the boot, air conditioning leak). Nothing major, I know, but back to the dealer 11 times to fix the above wasn't my idea of fun :( .

So in my search for something different I tried a Audi TT 3.2 quattro, Audi A5 quattro, Porsche Cayman and Lotus Europa. Finally settled of course on the Zed.

The Audis were, quite frankly, boring and not special enough to drive IMHO. The Lotus just not practical as an everyday driver. The Porsche was a great drive, but could only afford the standard 2.7, the S was actually £14K more than the Zed  . The 2.7 was fast enough, only if you continually screwed the engine above 4000 rpm.

So, the Zed was chosen. More of a sports car than the SLK, but still practical and easy enough for an everyday driver. Looks and feels special, and the coupe is a much more rare car in the UK. Good prices also available (12% discount off list for me) :D .

Still, of course, remains to be seen whether the Zed lives up to expectations, as the SLK really is a hard act to follow. I'm sure I'll have my answer in the next couple of months :) .

phil45110, welcome. What's the full spec of your new one? Your SLK350 is the same as mine now, I did the opposite move to you (albeit from a roadster not a coupe).

Fairly basic spec I suppose, as I found the Coupe had most things I wanted anyway.

So, it's a 3.0si Sport with Xenons, Composite R108 alloys, Heated Seats, Comfort Pack (Cup Holders, Parking Sensors) and I-Pod Connector.

How do you find the SLK? I thought it was an absolutely superb car. Mine had the 7G tranny, totally effortless performance :D .
Airscarf enables sub zero open top motoring, too :driving: .

What spec SLK did you have, why get rid of it?
Had slk 350 for about a year its was a something for the weekend car but then along came Paul (the dog) only two seats where’s he going to sit so the slk didn’t get used much maybe 1 weekend in 4 so a lot of money doing nothing I was travelling a lot so use the 535D (see picture) and if the three of us went out it was in the RAV so goodbye slk
Then change of job so sold 535D and here we are today

Welcome  i did the same as you goodbye slk350 hello 3.0si and all the same colours. spooky :)

What can I say, we both have impecably good taste. However, after seeing some of the pictures of larger ladies you post, I'm glad we don't share the same taste in women :o

How do you find the difference between the zed and the SLK? Two very different character cars. Zed seems more challenging to drive but much more rewarding :)

Right I see. TBH you probably got rid of yours at the right time.

Very, very, very big bump!

Well, got my first Zed (Coupe) at Christmas in 2007. Used it daily for work and pleasure until redundancy struck in 2009. As I changed my career and got a job working for the railway, found I no longer required my own car (Wife has a mini cooper S).

Moved house, now have a nice warm garage and found myself pining for a sports car. Always loved the Zed, loved the go-cart driving position and the superb straight 6 so dithered about buying another. Cleared it with the boss, who said ok, as long as it's the convertible, and finally took the plunge in August. It's a 2006 3.0si Sport, Titanium Silver, 36k on the clock. Just like meeting an old friend. Absolutely love it.

Done a few mods since the photos, stubby, black kidneys and Wheel Spacers, will take a few more when the weather allows.
