Lower price than the one discussed above for sure, but then it's a 2.5 and they are less. Not main agent, 1 owner, AUC warranty, etc.

Both look nice examples but it's down to the inspection, drive history and personal choice on the colour combination, required options, warranty etc.

Like CJ said really.

The silver one they have for another £1k is around the mark for cheaper ones, but the Merlot car is the cheapest I've seen without mega miles, it's not low milage but it's not 80k+... I'd be interested to see if they've just knocked that much off for the colour! It's not a bad spec car either. The money you save could go on mods

Just had the salesbloke on the phone from Stratstone Hull regarding the Merlot 3.0SE...... must be keen it was gone 6PM!!

Was I still interested? would I be prepared to put a holding deposit on the car now before I can get across to Hull? When should he call me back? Is that desperation or what? He gave me the usual salesman speal earlier on, saying that he couldn't guarantee the car wouldn't sell soon, someone was actually viewing the car whilst we were speaking! Yeah right.....I will never be forced into making a decision by salesmen 'textbook' talk..... they can sweat whilst I reflect!!

:)

Nice pic Eunice - wheres it taken?

I can't remember exactly but it was somewhere on the road from Fort William when we were heading for the Isle of Skye. There was a long climb and the picture was taken in a layby viewing point.

Wow,

I didn't expect so many comments! This is the first time I have popped back to check out the responses! Thanks guys!

I guess the consensus is generally positive, I have to say some of the pictures posted of Merlot Zeds make it look a very attractive colour and I agree that it would come up beautifully with a professional detail. This is the car in question.....a 2003 3.0SE - an AUC car and seems to be well specced although I would have liked nav.

That is so similar to mine, only diff is I haven't got PDC, and got Elips instead of 108's. Mine was from BMW too, and was 11k back in May. I'd be offering about that money for a low mileage 03. The black one is pricey imo, 13k is a lot for 45k.

I am tempted to offer £11K and sit back and see what they do! I do like the black one though, really nice colour combo but it doesn't have xenons and has more miles.

as much as I hate this colour on its own, i am sorry to say but i do like it on the Z4. it looks nasty on sedans, or tourings, but on a coupe it just works somehow, just like it works on some bentley or whatnot.

i've seen it in real life, with biege leather and black top. It was nice. And it was gone after couple of months. THen i saw another example. Again, 2 months passed and it was gone. So - people buy it. It's nice.

For the record you can do much worse than Merlot. I.e. White or Green or Champaigne. (IMHO!).

I think they would be tempted at 11k. Like I said, mine was 11k and it's almost identical. Re the black one, it does look lovely in black, but I'd definately go for Xenon's, the lamp itself looks a lot better and they are much better in use.

Talk about high pressure sales...the salesmen from Stratstone Hull, with the Merlot 3.0SE has rung AGAIN today and left a voicemail and emailed me. I wish I had not left my details, I like the car but will not be railroaded and pressurised into a sale. He wants me to make an appointment to view next saturday (no doubt to deploy his formidable array of salesman trickery on me!) - it actually isn't conveninent for a 280 mile round trip next weekend. I have never been 'bullied' so much before but I will not get intimidated by it. He can sweat......and keep trying...... :)

Great colour - and I don't see why it would demand a cheaper price (although the market is the market!) - there is a lovely one in Cooper Tunbridge Wells at the moment actually. I think it is dark enough to not appear brash and interesting enough to make people comment.

Enjoy!

Really nice mate, I passed one on the way to work the other day... fantastic price. Did they say why it was so much cheaper than the silver one?

yep it was the one from Bullitt Cars, i forgot to ask why the difference in price. Yep body work in mint condition...wouldnt budge on price but i know it has been reduced recently, got a MOT out of it although it still had 6 months left ...all in all very happy and the salesman was very good

This could well be the oldest thread I've resurrected, but it's as a result of a 'Merlot Red' search lol, so there you go. I love the colour, but it can be a bugger to photograph properly - coming out more pinky than dark wine red...

I think it's a great colour, and a shame BMW dropped it for the facelift Z4s.

But sadly your photo doesn't really do it justice. Some years ago I parked my Coupe next to one and I think this photo is closer to how it looks in the metal.

Great picture @Mr Tidy (Iain). Two old Z4s in the 'shopping trolley' spaces. Couldn't make it up!
I always tried to get that space as nobody could park on the driver's side, so I could always get the door open!

There was no access to the trolley park this side of the yellow post because of the kerb you can see at the base of the sign-post.

The yellow posts got installed to support gates they closed outside of store opening hours to stop lairy drivers of Ford shopping trolleys with a turbo leaving black lines everywhere!
