Megane 225 to Z4 newbie coming through

Nice place, we get up that way a couple of times a year, with our sons swimming. Love whitby to pickering road.

If you get a Z in time. Get your name down for the Lakes and Dales meet. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=48386

Aii really looking forward to that national meet, need more names down though :D

And is automatic better than manual or vice versa, when choosing? Is that purely a personal choice.

The things I didn't realise but now love about the auto...

you never stall the engine.
Never done that in the manual.
you never roll backwards on hill starts.
Oh yes you can. :o
you never fluff a gear change during a spirited take off from the lights.
Slush box and spirited take off, I don't think so. :poke:
you never need to touch the handbreak.
You need the hand brake for J turns. :driving:
cruise control is far better as it shifts up and down when necessary in addition to just adjusting throttle.
What's cruise control. :P
you can hold your girlfriends hand if you're the romantic type without needing to let go for roundabouts etc.
Ok so there is one good point.
stop start driving in heavy traffic is way less frustrating and not as tiresome.
Move to Cornwall, stay in on the three weekends a year the roads are busy and never see heavy traffic again. :D

Welcome Jimmy, you may notice, some of us like to argue, just for the fun of it. :D

Are you looking for a roadster or a coupe?

Where are you located?

I can roll backwards in my auto with drive selected? Are you sure? I've not experienced this. My car creeps forward if on flat or slight inclines and just stands still on really steep banks with no handbrake and no footbrake applied. I'd better be a bit more careful if it is possible to roll backwards - maybe I've been putting too much faith in it!

With the sport button pressed and the accelerator to the floor past the kickdown switch the old slushy box holds onto the gears longer than I would in a manual so I reckon a clever German has programmed the computer to sqeeze the max torque out of first and second better than I could. I have to say the auto box has surprised me and I'm a convert! Only if you have over 200bhp though - I reckon an auto would be utter shite in a small engined car or a diesel.

Oh and I do like Devon and Cornwall and could easily live there but some of the roads are so narrow with high hedges blocking your view and coaches seem to bool along in the middle of the road during the holiday season! It must be terrifying trying to drive your Zed at speed sometimes!

Thinking about this one guy? what are your thoughts?

Over priced?

I think somewhere nearer the £6k mark is about the going rate for that year, mileage, spec etc.

Cheers Stuart and shortfuse.

Guys went to see this one today
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201305096679333

Its gonne need two rear tyres soon, its got a rattle coming from the front dash, the break pad indicator is on, owner said they'll need changing in the next 4 months, the gear stick has some of the paint chipped off. Front right head light is slight cloudy then the left. Service is due in 3000 miles, just gone 80,000.

Its got memory seat's that's about it.

What you guys think its worth?

You'll find better definitely.

These cars do rattle a bit as they get older...

If the brake pad indicator is on then they need changed now, not in 4 months, so there's £60-100 depending on what you buy.

Two new rear tyres - what, £200+ for both 17's ?

What service is due ? Mine just went past 85k, last service was oil at about 84k... My next one is Inspection 2 with is the more expensive one... So either £140 or £300 on the next service... Not including anything that needs done over and above normal items.

I think that, as Ste says, there will be others out there that are much better for the same money.

Is it otherwise in good nick though ?

Thanks for the replies guys. Think its going to need an inspection 2 next, apart from the points I noted its pretty spot on it. Went like a bat out of hell. Gonna keep looking. I'm going to continue looking and find one which has all the things Io want. Prefer to buy one off a forum member.

HI mate - drop me a PM if you like the look of mine and lets talk money
