Megane 225 to Z4 newbie coming through

Hey Guys,

Time for me to get behine the wheel of a bmw. Currently got a Megane 225 which I've had for 5 years, and need to scratch my RWD 2 seater itch. So I've opted for a BMW Z4. Looking to get some advice and knowledge about the cars, as in common things to look for etc. Also hoping to meet a few people of here if there are any meets.

Should be able to get a nice tidy early 3.0 for that :thumbsup:

Thats what I was thinking. Is the 3.0 the one to go for or is the 2.5 or even 2.0 good options engine wise?

Well I had a 2.0 and you will find it lacking after owning a megane 225, the 2.5 is prob similar performance while the 3.0 will be a nice step up :thumbsup:

With you coming from a Megane 225, I'd say 3.0. Maybe 2.5, but you run the risk of being underwhelmed. Drive both I reckon - see what you like. As I understand it the running costs are not much different between the two. You'll get lots of good advice on here though, probably better than mine - shy we are not :D

Yep get a 3.0 if you can afford to run it, but definitely one of the 6 cylinders, otherwise you'll always be wishing you did.

Saying that do they make 3.0 with less than 6 cylinders then? If they do, I need to watch out for them and make sure I get a 6 cylinder one.

Alright Jimmy,

Sorry worded that badly. I meant get the 3.0 engine if you can (which is 6 cylinders), but if not the 2.5 has 6 also. I think I'm right in saying the 2.0 and 2.2 have a 4 cylinder engine, which just won't give you that same ear-gasm noise.
 
lol ahhhh right!! Get ya, get ya! 3.0 is the one I'm really after.

Is there a spec list on the forum, which list what is standard and optional on the z4's?
 
Hello & welcome :thumbsup: good luck in your search for your Zed & another :thumbsup: for a 3.0 litre model...bigger is better (that's what the mrs tells me!)
