That is beautiful

Thanks you - I will be giving her a good clean and then popping her on AT :)

As the market appears to have stopped, it looks like I’ll be breaking the Imola - I will put a list up of parts as I will want committed buys first so I can sort it quickly.

Wow. Seems such a shame :( are they really worth more in bits?

That’s bonkers. I did send you a semi-interested PM a couple of weeks ago but no reply? If I can raise any interest in my 3.0i, my interest in your Imola will go up exponentially.

Even if they are it seems a terrible waste of a perfectly good car.

Would be a real shame to see any straight M get broken, particularly an early lower tax one (surely that’s a real positive in the current market), but from a financial perspective I see the logic.

Have you tried to put a proper ad together for it? Autotrader, pistonheads etc?

That just seems so sad - someone buy it please!

There aren't many that qualify for the cheap Road Tax.

Anybody know if the last person to break one made money or broke even?
I know on paper a lot of the parts may add up to more than the cars value but only if you can find the buyers for the parts.

The market hasn't 'stopped'. You are obviously asking too much money. EVERYTHING will sell if it's the right price.
Breaking a perfectly good car because you can't find a buyer is nuts. You must have the price wrong for what you are offering. It's that simple.

Mileage is EVERYTHING these days with car values. Like it or not, it's true. Both these cars are over the magic 100k miles, which makes them a lot less desirable than ones with, say, 80k.

Just curious as there seem to be people who pm re the car but not getting a reply?

There have been a few PMs, mainly folks:
1. not believing it is the lower tax band
2. Interested but have to sell their car first
3. Enquiring but not interested in buying
4. One guy stating he’s a known time waster
5. One asking me to export it
6. One guy viewed - took 3hrs of my time and then purchased a car elsewhere
7. A guy “wanted” it but then asked me to meet him so he could compare it to another car
8. A guy offered to swap it for an M3

So yes I have had PMs and I appreciate the interest but I was looking for a serious buyer who was prepared to have a proper conversation with the aim of striking a deal.

It is a valid point that the price maybe too high, but then folks say the lower tax band is a major plus point. Again, mileage may be considered too high but this is only a British thing. I have spoken to numerous M3 race teams, Indy garages and other M owners and M3 owners and none have reported these engines being wrecked or a ticking time bomb as soon as they reach 100k. I’ve had 4 Ms and not had an issue with any of them. I was scared into doing the bearings on my first one with 100k on it - it turned out they didn’t need doing. People who know me know my cars are well maintained and treated sympathetically.

So in your eyes, what is the right price?

Yes you did and thank you however, respectfully, until you have advertised / sold your car there’s no real point in taking things further.

I think there’s enough money in the car to reach my figure yes.

I believe so but that’s why I have stated I want firm buyers in place so I don’t have parts laying around waiting for a buyer.

It’s hard work and time consuming breaking a car. Then instead of dealing with one buyer. You are suddenly dealing with 10-20 buyers. And you think you’ve had timewasters now?! Try selling multiple parts……

I think a proper advert on autotrader/eBay etc at ÂŁ10995 and this would be gone.
