Marussia accident

Jokes aside, but I'm sure this will put any future plans in doubt of having women in F1 cars

Very sad indeed, hope she pulls through, but you're absolutely right; this will put women and the reasons why they are not in F1 right back in the spotlight. Personally I see no reason why they cannot drive an F1 car, but this will add more No votes for sure.

well that will be the end of her F1 career. would love to see how she could hit a truck on an airfield

Hope she is alright, I don't see why there should be a debate about women in F1, it's not like the men don't crash.

Struggle to see what this has to do with her being a woman though... argue all day long about whether women are as good as men on the track, but she probably drives a hell of a lot better than any of us on here and we wouldn't drive into a truck... let's see what the enquiry turns up before making out like she got confused and pressed the wrong pedal.

It's a bloke thing

Hope she pulls through, and maybe one day back behind the wheel of a racing car.

Does make you wonder a little about the sense of testing with a 32yr old driver who is trying to "get into the sport" .. considering the competition amongst young drivers with foreign sponsorship, could you really see a man being given this opportunity?

Really hope she's ok, someone tweeted this which isn't very nice at all :|

I don't think any of us are - we are just highlighting the recent F1 press coverage on this subject

personally i see no reason why women should compete in F1, having said that i think the pit stops would be er entertaining and i certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere nearby as the pull in, women just don't park safely

That's pretty shocking, despite the fact you can't really see anything - hope she is well enough to have the chance to recover

I wasn't referring to anyone who had posted previously, more the general mood in motorsport circles.

Yikes! I hope she makes a full recovery.

Do we know why it happened yet?
