Martyn's Z4M Coupe

Less weight and closer to the center of the vehicle to help handling? Not a critique, just wondering the thought process from a design standpoint

Everything is still working nicely with the DCT, no regrets so far! It still needs a bit of tweaking but so far so good.

I finally got round to changing the high pressure vanos line as I forgot to do it when the headers off, no pics as it's pretty boring.

I also wired in a 12v to USB socket to an ignition live so I could charge my tablet without having to use the 'always on' cig lighter socket.

My replacement tablet (Lenovo Legion Y700) also arrived which I'd hoped would fit nicely in front of the screen, and it does! I've disconnected the screen so it doesnt try and open/close on key on / off.

I routed the charging cable down to my new USB socket which is installed behind the glove box.

I also designed a mounting plate for a couple of custom buttons I plan to mount behind the steering wheel.

And printed in CF reinforced PETG.

It'll fit behind the steering wheel, and have one momentary switch for launch control/clutch by wire and a latching switch for traction on / off.

The custom laser engraved switches are coming from Aus so will take a while to arrive :(

Buttons have arrived, so I wired them in and got them mounted.

One for launch control (momentary) via the DCT box, and the other to toggle traction control (latching) on and off via the MaxxECU.

On the other side of things, my brake light switch is b0rked, so my brake lights are stuck on. New one on order

That is pretty epic Martyn! 8)

I can see why you’ve gone the route you have - awesome results.

I know Tom K and I salivate about S65 swaps!!

WTF, pure dark arts. Martyn not so long ago they would have burnt you at the stake for such witchcraft!

Inspiring work mate

Absolutely amazing work - I can imagine there would be a few who would like you to convert their cars once you’ve finished!!

Thanks all.

I fitted the new brake light switch only to have the same issue  , I did a bit of head scratching then bust out the multimeter and checked, turns out number 14 had blown. I replaced that and all was good in the hood again.

Small update, I've been super busy with my actual day job so not had much time to play but I did order a couple of Milltek 100 Cell cats, new mid section flanges and a bit more 2.5" stainless. I'm going to remove the resonators and add the cats in their place, hopefully this will reduce the whiff at idle.

The cats sleeve on to the 2.5" stainless so would pretty easy to fit up.

Was there any reason why you picked Milltek in particular as I have been looking at buying some 200 cel cats and was going to go for Jetex . Thanks.

Mainly because of the price, they were 175 quid each.

Yes I see now they have a sale on . I am looking at the 200 cell but even on offer they are £356 each . I have seen it mentioned online they are made by HJS so worth it if thats true . You have bought 2.5 inch pipe for the cats is the rest of the exhaust 2.5 inch now ? Considering the BHP you are putting out I would think it would need to be ?

The cat section is made up of 2.5". The rest of the exhaust is stock, i've left it that way as I don't believe it to be a restriction.

I treated myself to a mid rise scissor lift for the garage, the quickjacks were great, but this is next level. It's so nice to have the car at a decent height.

I removed the decat pipes and got chopping. I extended the section before the cats to allow more clearance around the gearbox, then used 4 pipe cuts on each pipe to raise the pipes to allow a straight entry into the cats.

Not my finest work but they'll do the job.

The cell matrix on the HJS cats appears to be different than the Milltek. I'm not sure Milltek's are made by HJS.
