Martyn's Z4M Coupe

The cell matrix on the HJS cats appears to be different than the Milltek. I'm not sure Milltek's are made by HJS.

Thats a shame but hopefully still a decent cat . I have just searched Milltek and HJS and they do sell downpipes with HJS cats so that is probably where it came from .

A lift is on my wish lift - which one did you go with, Automotech ?

Yeah. I bought the additional lead on ramps too as my cars are quite low.

Ive done a few miles with the cats on, they certainly reduce the smell but they've introduced a little bit of rasp that I didn't have with the Fabco resonators.

Managed to pop out with the VBOX to do a quick 100-200 kph test.

Not bad, but I think there are still some improvements to be made. Keep in mind that there's 3 gear changes in a 100 to 200 kph run with the DCT box.

For comparison here's a 100-200 I did in my ~370bhp E46 M3 before switching out the diff for a 4.10. Spot the gear change lol.

That's mental, both the difference in time between the two, and the smoothness of the shifts in the DCT Z4M! Very tidy work Martyn :)

No real updates here, I've continued to tweak things as I've had time.

I re-fitted the Tial bypass valve to add a bit of noise/drama and developed a custom tune for the DCT gearbox to increase shift speeds, which has made a massive difference.

Will you be making this available for people with DCT and if so will it be for just the Maxxecu ?

Yeah, i've been doing DCT tunes for final drive changes on E9x M3s for a few years now, along with line pressure increases for higher power cars etc.

What s/w do you use for that ?

WinOLS to make the file changes, but I have my own flasher I use to flash the modified bins. It's much less clunky than flashing modified 0DA files with WinKFP (I used to do this).

I've been rather impressed with your flasher Martyn, once we got round the main issue (me not understanding what I was doing  )

Respect…way too far from my comfort zone …I’ll just stay in my own limited universe

Any more updates on this Martyn? This has definitely been one of my favourite project threads in a long time!!

I'm quietly hoping you've been cooking up the S65 swap now

A few updates, nothing too interesting though.

- Rebuilt the rear calipers with new pistons and seals as they'd started to stick.

- Refitted the recirculating bypass valve as the Tial was doing my head in again.
- Replaced the water pump for the charge cooler as it had siezed.

I also took the car out to the pub to meet some friends, blew the cobwebs off it on the way there, it still makes me laugh the way it wants to spin the rears up in 3rd :driving:

I've had my fun with the project so I think it's time to revert it to stock and move it on.

Looking lovely Martyn! Shame to hear you're done with it - I was so hoping you were going to S65 swap it!!

That is surprising to me Martyn but we all have our own agenda so good luck with whatever your future plans are

Seems a real shame to undo all that great work and an incredible achievement.
Are you not tempted to keep it, or sell it on as is?

Actually I may even be interested in it . Just checking it can be shifted without using the clutch pedal ? :)
