As i picked up a new trolley jack i finally got around to painting my calipers... red - to match my seats :fuelfire:

Need to remove and paint the brake pad clip at some point now though... Probably black.

Looks good! Though you're worse with the paint brush than I am :poke: looking at those brake clips lol.

Lookin' good!

Out of interest, where are the jacking points and where did you use the axle stands?

I have blocks on my car where the jacking paints are... But as i used axel stands i used the nut on the rear where the rear strut attached, and put the stand on the block.

The front used the jacking point and put an axel stand either side of it.

For the rear you can use the jack on the center nut Where the struts join and raise the entire rear of the car... But as i only had bricks to choke the car didnt want to risk it rolling!!

I know  i only had a big brush available!! I want to paint the brake clip black... But was too scared to remove it today!!

Looks much better.

Def. need to fix those retainer springs now. I'd also suggest you remove the overpain off the hub to wheel mating face else you may fing you have vibrating wheels.

thanks for the tip cj.. Once it hardens tomorrow i'll sand those bits down.

Do the retaining spings just pull out? I'd rather spray them off the car instead of using a fine brush.

Out of interest, did you remove the calipers and wire brush it? I'll be doing mine silver, red is a little too cliché for my liking on calipers

You can get a wire brush that goes in a drill chuck

Good for cleaning them up, no need to remove them

Use an old chisel or similar to simply scrape the faces clean.
The clips need pressing forward towards the centre of the axle then just pop out. Take care not to damage your new paint.

Great Job, how long did it take per wheel?
About an hour including cleaning, waiting for them to dry and talking to the neighbours!!

I just used some sandpaper to rough it up a little and cleaned it.

The best way would be soda/sand blasted and powdercoated :) It means it gets ALL the rust/dust off and the finish has a solid base to attach itself - this is especially important if you have old callipers as the pad seats within the carrier can gum up causing the pad to mis-align and reduce braking efficiency.
