As before, I know not all people bother with doing this but the Europe 2022-2 map is available to update. :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:

Cheers. Always lovely to get that info from you.
My gps is playing up at the moment too. Keeps losing location. I’ve heard the modules sometimes need replacing on BMWs.

Hope it will recover on itself.
I recently did some retrofit to my G31. Upon putting everything back, the window switch keeps saying it's faulty despite it works as it should. I connected a different switch and no fault. Then I plugged the original switch back, no fault. So, yes, modules sometimes need replacing.

Looks like this is the first map download that doesn't fit onto 32GB USB stick. After formatting, stick is 28.9 GB, but navigation needs 29.3 GB. Will have to find 64GB USB stick.

Hi - this is probably very basic question that I should know the answer to, but how do you do the update?

[ref]IZB[/ref], You need to download BMW Download Manager, then it allows you to download the update to your pc/laptop, then at the end gives you the option to save to usb (must be 64gb) when done, plug into the car and iDrive will prompt you to press a few buttons/agree etc and it’ll do the rest itself

I did mine yesterday, just haven’t uploaded it to the car yet, it’s pishing of rain so no rush

I didn’t have any success with the USB download when it was included in the connected drive package
That was on my E89, (2016) I hope the system has evolved on the G29

Exactly as Argyll Andy has said. Just install the BMW download manager then log in using your bmw connected drive account. Then follow instruction to download the map and transfer to a 64GB usb stick. Once this is done, plug the usb stick to the car's usb port and the system will ask you whether you want to update the map.

Thought these updates happened automatically?

OTA update just update the area where you usually drive or the area specified somewhere in the BMW ConnectedDrive portal. It's usually set to the country where the car is registered though. Then, this USB map update will update the entire map database (full euro map). Therefore, it's not necessary to do usb update every time a new version become available. But people like me always want the latest version so I keep doing this.

There was improvement in last two updates, car stopped sending me on the road that's not build yet. But it's still showing a lot of roads that are either planned on being built.

I now have the update on the memory stick and validated which took over 2 hours.

Put the memory stick in the USB port and nothing happens. It supposed to activate the navigation system automatically but it doesn’t.

Even tried to go to the update section in the nav system manually and hit update but it won’t, just keeps telling me I have the 2019 version

Where am I going wrong?

Takes less or around 30min. You don't have to keep the engine running. The update can resume after system shutdown. However, I prefer the update in one go so my approach is to triple press the start button without pressing brake padel which will put the system into diagnosis mode which will keep system on if the door status is not changed (keep opened or keep shut) or car is not locked.

see updated message above. Nothing is working

Frustrated that I followed all the steps and nothing happened when I plugged the memory stick in. Deleted everything, reformatted the stick and starting again.

Another couple of hours before I see if that does anything :x
