Must agree Taz, the DCT is an auto box. A fancy one , like the ones in F1 cars. and I love it.
 
A sports car should have a proper gearbox in it, a manual one! :poke: Or a stick as they say in the US i believe. :P

In that case you need to dump the assisted braking, traction control, power steering... And for the roadster owners the auto roof! ;-)

Well it would depend on how technical you want to be, a good simile would be - your a caveman with a gnawed bone as a weapon, your cavemen buddies are being shot at by a man with a flintlock, they are being picked off 1 every 3 minutes. Then this other guy appears with a gatling gun and kills everyone that you have ever known in a blink of an eye. To a caveman both weapons are magical godlike creations, however one just kills more efficiently than the other, they are similar but in reality quite different
 
Let's not lower this to a coupe vs roadster spat, I have all three and all three trannies, stick, step and DCT. Get rid of all the automatic intervention systems and just have a manual box ? Nah, if I wanted an old MG I'd get one thanks....

I think most of those in favour of a manual box have not used a DCT for a couple of week's, (do that and you wouldn't switch back) which is nothing like the Naff BM Auto box. :)

or just prefer the control of a manual box and actually use the car's potential performance and dont just pootle :driving:

I wouldn'y call driving the Malibu canyons pootling , or 150+ mph pootling either.

Sounds to me like a lot of people have paradigms about auto boxes and need to pull their heads out of the sand and look around , things have changed. The new DCT's can be driven hard and made to do whatever you want them to do. and they do it FAST. They are a derivative of the F1 boxes after all.... :thumbsup:

Heel toe, don't need that anymore, I can downshift and hard brake at the same time....it's excellent :driving: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
Before buying my manual Z i test drove a SMG and found it better than I'd expected but I prefer manual.

but kryton is known on here (by his own admission) to pootle...

I know things have changed but I still prefer to change cogs myself. The satisfaction of a super smooth manual up/down change is something to behold :driving:
