I bet those voted Auto box have not driven a lot in the mountains as an auto box in the mountains is a real pain.

Not many mountains in North London so not a problem for me. :D

i suppose it depends on how north london you mean hehe

I'm a bit west of London and the Rockies are "Mountains", I went Auto because I needed to shrink my left leg after driving my M3, especially in heavy traffic. I love my DCT Auto box :driving:

Sadly our mountain roads are nothing like the twisty things found in Europe...

i think in 20 years time the manual will be a thing of the past

They have been a thing of the past over here for donkeys years, only sporty type cars and muscle cars ever had them as long as I've been here. They made a bit of a comeback with high gas prices ...but not much of one.

20 years from now you won't be allowed to drive... Park themselves, brake themselves.... Drive themselves... All within the law, no spirited driving ;-)

I have a five speed that's tons of fun ...when I get it right, a slushbox tiptronic that is totally unexciting and my 7spd DCT that is amazing. It all depends on the mood your in I guess

Never happen here, too many gravel (country) roads.

Have you seen the new ford adverts :-) anyone that needs a car that parks itself shouldn't have a licence!

Ive not yet driven an auto that can get more miles per gallon than a manual...

That and the fact manuals give FAR more smiles per gallon too ;)

Surprised at the result really... Would have expected much less autos :(

Sorry Taz I cannot vote, because my next car will most likely have a DCT or S-Tronic (DSG) gearbox which is neither manual nor automatic, but a combination of the two. :poke:

yes throwing my toys out of the proverbial pram :-P

Glad to see manual has taken the lead, this is a sport car forum after all :poke:

+1.
Drove autos for years before getting my Z last year......great to have full control again. tho sometimes I do forget that 6th gear.

There are autos that will do same or more mpg as/than a manual.......I have two 4x4s (oldish Nissans), one auto and one manual.....the auto is actually more fuel-efficient because it runs at around 1000rpm per 30mph versus the 1250rpm of the manual. Be interesting to see what the figures are for auto v. manual on the Zed.....

There are quite a few of them. Mainly because of the gearing ratio of both the tranny & differential, and the computers tend to shift earlier in most instances.

Also most premium cars now are coming out with 8 speed automatics with 2 overdrive gears.
