Managed 700 miles in the Z4 yesterday...

So, due to a bit of a hash being made of planning ahead by dearest brother of mine, I wound up making my first long trip in the Z4 driving him to University and making my way back again on Sunday.
700 miles and 12 hours later I arrived back home and have now decided I must sort cruise control out! Actually, I tried to but Ocean BMW genuinely wouldn't sell me just the stalk, Instead they would only sell me (for the low, low price of £700) the entire kit, fitted, plus five hours plugged into the computer to reprogram the car to tell it it had cruise control
Nevertheless, can I just say what an utterly fabulous companion a Z4 makes for doing long journeys! Not a single complaint came from the car the entire way and the computer said I had averaged 40.3 mpg, I suspect it may be a bit optimistic and may actually be about 38 but even so, for an 11 year old 3.0i, that's mighty impressive! A shout out must also go to the guys who did my exhaust who through some witchcraft have totally eliminated any drone while cruising but as soon as you accelerate it makes a fantastic howl, must do a video one day!
Sorry if there's not much to discuss here, just thought I'd add to the Z4 love from a very happy, and pleasantly surprised, owner :D

I think 700 miles in a day in any vehicle is tiring - so good to hear positive things about the zed being comfortable after that time

Cruise is wonderful on motorways

Poor show no pics from the journey :?
Glad you are still under the spell tho

Bet you're glad that your brother didn't go to uni at Truro!

Glad you enjoyed the trip. :driving:

Tell Ocean they can stick it... 5 hours to reprogram, a downright lie, none needed at all. Get the stalk delivered from Sopers, £80 if I remember correctly.

Hang on!
Nothing to win the photo competitions I'm afraid as it was mostly motorway trekking, however I did grab a few!

One for the show us you're beading thread, taken just before leaving,

My exact words were 'How stupid do you think I am?' and 'You don't want the business, do you?'. Exactly, I was planning on simply getting it sent from a different dealer :)

I'll second that , I've done the 830 mile trip each way to and from France , usually about 15 hours , a couple of times now . I specifically sought out a car with cruise for long journeys , I usually get 36 mpg .
It's a long trip but remarkably comfortable in a z , more so than my old l200 pick up , 18 hours in that ! :driving: :driving:

700 miles good days cruising.

Ocean Plymouth, that will be the place I paid £900+ for a Ins I, before I knew any better. Not been back there since.

Where are you getting your servicing done?
