From BMW Direct via Amazon UK - possibly cheaper elsewhere, but I make it £226.41 for the four parts

Omg that is such a rip off, they are pretty much the same as the E89 but 2.5 times the cost!
Seems to happen with trim parts for discontinued models....

I didnt know the Z4MR had black roll hoops, so at least it wont look out of place.

I don't know if they all do or if it's dependent on body/interior colour, but this is Stu's car and you can clearly see the black hoops

Jonny, I removed mine so I could get them painted to match the car. As others have pointed out it is quite fiddly, but can be done.
Yes, you will probably break one or two of the clips, but it shouldn't make a difference as there are enough all around the hoops to reattach firmly.
Tips:
I used my set of plastic trim removal tools (often sold as car stereo removal tools). If you don't have a set of these you shouldn't be touching the car interior for just about any job (IMHO).
Use a heat gun (or hairdryer) to warm up the plastic to make the covers easier (more pliable/flexible) to remove. Obviously, don't go too hot and melt things...
BE VERY PATIENT! Don't rush or force things. You will curse everyone who who was ever involved in the design of these hoops, but they will come off if you are careful and patient.
I think starting at the top might be the right idea (I can't honestly remember exactly what order I did mine), and work your way around bit by bit. Some bits that are prised open *might* close again while you're working on the other side, don't go looking for the nearest hammer to "fix" the F*****g thing once and for all :headbang: just go back to it and prise it open again.
Best of luck, and remember, forum advice is free, but the risk is always yours. If you munter the hoops trying to get them off you have been warned... :telloff:
And if it all works out fine, then :happyclap: :roundel:

It was worth the stress/faffing about, for me:

Looks good - if I were going to paint mine, I think I'd go for matching the body colour to tie things together....

Enzeds hoops look great in the carbon black  I really like the way the blue shines through on the edges of the hoops.

I painted mine to match the titan silver bodywork,

Jonny try a few breakers to see if they have a set to buy, I got a set off someone on here who was breaking his motor it makes it a
bit easier to remove the ones on the car as you can see where the clips are, If you want a hand to get them off I will be about the
weekend after the bank holiday weekend

Has nobody got pictures of what the covers look like when they are opened?
Sometimes this is a good way of figuring out the best way to do something.
When I was taking out the trim in our car, having a spare set to look at was invaluable to figure out how and where it was held in.

well I'm going to admit it..... I've just tried to do this... and its ended badly. i am so pissed!! leave them alone jonny.

Trim with integrated clips is a nightmare, I've got a fair range of trim lifters and separators but there's always a couple of those damned pegs that give out usually because you don't realise they are there or can't work out which way to go :headbang:

Just google 'BMW Z4 roll hoops' or similar, plenty of results.
Here is a link to a 'how to install the factory wind blocker' - it has a few pics of removing the hoop covers.

Got the roll hoop covers off and only broke 4 clips in total which I feel judging by the feedback on here isnt too bad, plus i didnt damage or scratch anything. :D
Sprayed them in Grey primer ready for the matt Black top coat, picture shows them hanging from my dining room light with my struts which also have been coated in a Red primer before a gloss Red finish, but now they are both baking in the Sun in the Garden, so far so good and the key is prep work and always take your time

Looking good Jonny  So you broke 4 clips - have you got replacement ones or are they moulded to the covers, what do they look like? (I'm asking cos I maybe doing this too)

They are moulded as part of the hoops Colin, so not replaceable . But unless you break loads of them ( I think there are 10 per side ) you won't have any issues .

Ah right - that makes sense, cheers

Jonny, one thing that I don't think has been mentioned: take care when putting the hoop covers back on, to get the rubber bits (boots?) at the bottom of the covers right, they can be a bit of a pain to get aligned as they want to twist around and get caught under the hoop covers. As with the rest of the job, just take it slow and keep an eye on them as you fit everything back together.
Good luck, it's looking good so far.

They look great Jonny - good job

Those of us with them as standard have known for ages black is the way to go :P

Good job JE, while they were stripped down I think I'd have fitted the inserts and windbreaker brackets.

They look great Jonny - very professional finish
I hope when I come to do mine I can get the same effect - haven't decided what colour though.
