No the advanced oil light came on a few weeks ago. I topped it up and all was good Rob. I am sure its a sensor or pipe issue fingers crossed.

The problem is it was running a bit funny slightly hesitating. Almost like when the traction control kicks in. Then i turned it off came back to it and its hunting for revs 800 -1500 rpm. And a load of lights on the dash. Its exactly the same as when my throttle body went. So it could be that i got a dodgy part and its gone again? Very kind Stuart i might take you up on that. My brother has a generic fault reader that worked last time he is coming round tonight at 6. So hopefully shed some more light on it then.

Thanks Bing

Ah ok mate. Possible MAF sensor too.

You can test this by unplugging, if it idles fine (but very high) then that could well be it.

Ok so I have fault code p1633 witch is the same as the one I hade when my throttle body went. Similar symptoms as last time. Close the body manually and the car runs smooth but with no power. Put your foot down and nothing happens. The pedal is also linked to this code. Confused.com.

Anyone have a Sapir working ecelarator pedal???

Also after fitting the coilovers the headlights don't level properly. What's going on?

If the Z4 lighting system is similar to other BMW's then when your car was slammed to the floor on Saturday before adjusting/lifting the front, its possible the noises we heard was the wheel knocking the auto level sensors on the back of the lights. Going to have to pop the wheels off and take a gander behind the lights.

Perhaps the guys who have had their lights out have seen the levelling sensors, Luke?

oh rite! sorry to here that! hopefuly you will have it sorted soon

You didnt knock the leveling sensor on the drivers side lower arm when you did the coilovers did you? I always undo them to stop damage, unless yours doesnt have one on the lower arm?

That's probably what it is mate. If not from being knocked it'll be from the ride height. The arm only has so far it can go before it snaps... I found this out!! I had to extend the little plastic arm with some steel strip and then reattach it. Works a charm again. Mine happened straight after putting the lowering springs on.
It's on the drivers side front arm and easy to get to with the wheel off

Any one had any experience with this P1633 fault code?

As i said i have had this problem before and we changed the throttle body. It was over the Christmas period so not that long ago. Could i have had a dodgy part? Or is something causing them to go? Or is it unrelated the code dose refer to the throttle pedal as well. Anyone ever had to replace theirs?

I haven't mate, but a BMW tech lives on my road. If I bump into him over the next day or two (which I normally do) I'll ask for you.

Matt, have you put it on a proper laptop with BMW software? Or just an ODB 2?

Because the BMW software can read all the modules on the car, so you may get a FAR better answer.

Thanks Rob.

No just with a snap on scanner. My brother didn't have his BMW key for it with him :headbang:

I have the lead and the discs but no laptop :headbang: I gave it to my other brother when i got my ipad! Stuart has offered i might send him a cheeky PM.

Give Pete at Autotech in Telford a call he is a really helpful chap and is very much into his tech stuff

Any luck yet mate? May be your neck of the woods this weekend and can bring laptop and inpa etc if you've had no luck so far?

+1 - I'll put it all in the car tomorrow morning. I can probably get across in the evening given a short amount of notice.

Not been able to plug it in yet :(

If one of you could it would be magic. Unfortunately I am out a lot this weekend at a wedding from 12.30 today. And then got a flying lesson tomorrow from 12.00 :)
